Artist and model
I am an Artist (still learning!) and have done several classes , mainly interested in life drawing, which is the drawing of the nude human figure. I am also a Life model, which involves posing in the nude. I model at several Adult education colleges and Art colleges, class size varies from 10 to 25 artists, so in a big class you can be surrounded 360 degrees by people drawing and paint you, so you have to come up with interesing poses to cater for every view! I have also modelled for small Artist groups too, where there is 3-5 Artist, in this enviroment the pose can be more focussed. To be a successful model, first of all, you have to be comfortable being nude in front of a room full of people that you have probably not met. Don't worry, Artist's quite like people without perfect bodies, they are easier to draw! Think and practice poses, look in the mirror to see how interesting they are and look at art books and on the web for ideas on poses. You will be expected to do short poses (1-5 minutes) so pose can be less comfortable for this short period, to longer poses held for 30 minutes with a break and the pose could last all class, 3 hours and for several weeks! That's when you realise that modelling is hard work! have a look at Register for Artist's Models web site for more information and how to get started.
