Yours may be smarter, but I have a lot more of them...

I notice you are from Truro. My Grammy lived in Truro (actually she was my step-father's first wife's mother, but always treated me like her own grand-daughter). She lived in Bible Hill. I visited one summer and remember climbing "Jacob's Ladder".

I did look at the webcam, but could only get the railway tracks. I will try again and see what happens.

I'm not sure which crossing it is. Grammy lived several blocks up, on one side of the tracks and you crossed the tracks beside a feed company (see if you could hold your breath the whole way past IT) to get to the Woolworth's store that was a couple of blocks to the left. I think that must have been "The Main Drag" in those days. That was 1966 (Acckkk... that does date me! I must have been 9, though I always thought I was older than that).

Here is the Ottawa Traffic cam... sort of spotty service. I sent them an email about it and they said it was fine... Hunt Club and Prince of Wales is the closest intersection to me.

It was very dark when I looked. I finally figured out how the thing worked (webdesigners.... sheesh!) and I thought it looked very like the spot. I shall have a look in daylight. I think there have probably been a few changes since then, but it should be somewhat familliar.

Just my luck that I don't have Java at work (either kind) and just now, the sun is blocking the view West. So I can't tell what is what there... Where are the railway tracks that I saw last night... or was I dreaming?

I was discussing the timeline with my mother today. I went to Nova Scotia the same summer but after we went to Expo '67 (which made me 10, at the time, not 9). We had a stupendously short time at Expo '67. Two days! and we spent 1/2 of the first trying to find my, then 3-year-old sister who got lost in the crowd at La Ronde.... My parents sent my brother and sister and I out to visit my Grammy. Our cousins from Toronto and Kentville were there and we spent a month, I think it was. Part of the time we were in Truro, and part was at the family cottage at Little Bass.

The whole time was marvelous, until the horrible bible-thumping aunt (who shall remain nameless) who wouldn't let us do anything on Sundays arrived. When we were at the cottage, we were fooling around and after my sister destroyed my cousin's retainer, we rubbed Bay of Fundy mud in her hair (sister's not cousin's) and "She Who Shall Not Be Named"* packed us all off back to Truro we spent all the rest of our free time reading the bible as punishment.

*Makes my skin crawl just thinking about her.
