Good or bad policy?

I've basically decided that journal entries should stay two weeks, with a new entry about every week. (This is for my page, mind you. I'm not saying others should do it this way.) And I'm unsubscribing from conversations if nobody says anything interesting for a whole weeks. Is this a good policy, or does it seem like a bad idea? Anybody have an opinion?

Now what?

After two weeks, I'm really not sure I see the point. Sure there is a lot of information, and fairly accurate at that, but you can find that in a good encyclopedia. Right now there are simply too many gaps. As far as conversation goes... People talk back and forth, simply for the sake of hearing their own voices, or maybe seeing their words on a BBC site. (You can tell it's not for relevance, because even as people talk back and forth, nobody convinces anybody of anything, except that maybe they disagree a little more and agree a little less.) Can a forum be divisive then, instead of building some kind of community together?
I've enjoyed my experience here, granted, but... I just don't see the point. Maybe if I come back in a couple years things will be better- or maybe not. I'll stick around a little longer, and see what happens.

Ahh, so far so good.

Well, it's been a few days. I haven't really made any friends yet, but I haven't made too many enemies either, so I'm satisfied with that. I've just gone and added a little about me to my Introduction, now it actually tells you something. Oh, the horror!
We'll see what fun from here. smiley - smiley

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step- er, keystroke.

Today I start an interesting journey- involvement in this thing they call H2G2. No particular reason why, except that Douglas Adams mentioned it a few times in his book, The Salmon of Doubt. A good read, highly recommended to anyone who hasn't actually read it yet. Are there such people?
In the past fifteen minutes I have written an introduction, (which certainly needs revision), submitted an entry to the Guide, (maybe. I'm still not certain I did that right,) and written this journal entry. (Technically not in the last fifteen minutes, because I'm not done yet, but... you get the idea.)
A good adventure so far. What events occur next remains to be seen.
