...what else could happen? Mr. Emee was on his way to his mom's on Thursday night so they could drive to New Mexico to go to a funeral when he got a call from his mom. Her epilleptic, mentally handicapped brother had been having seizures all day and they called an ambulance to take him to the hospital. They did some blood work and his white blood cell count was so high their instrumentation couldn't tell them exactly what it was. He was moved to a hospital in Tulsa on Saturday because they have more resources to deal with Uncle J. He has leukemia but they don't know what kind yet. Should know sometime today or tomorrow after a pathologist looks at his blood. They'll do an MRI today to see if he had a stroke or not. He's lost feeling and some mobility on his left side.
MIL hasn't closed on her house yet and the other uncle still lives out on the homestead as well so Hotel Emee and Restaurant Chez Nous will soon be open. Went to Sams this weekend and stocked up so I'll be ready. My freezer is full. I'm thinking about having someone come in to vacuum & tidy up a bit since I'll be pretty much on my own until Uncle J is out of the hospital. Mr. Emee has plans to drive there pretty much every night after work. They're talking about puting Uncle J in a nursing home. With all the care, lifting, bed baths, bed pans, etc, there's no way MIL can take care of him by herself and all her children & their spouses work. Did I mention they don't have insurance? Not my problem you might think, but Mr. Emee makes it his problem and worries about it and then it's my problem.

He did have a stroke and has started physical therapy. He took a couple of steps yesterday and is working on making his left arm & hand move. It's chronic leukemia so they can treat it to minimize the symptoms and give him time, but he'll have to live with it. His white cell count was 195,000. It's supposed to be less than 10,000.
