Friday was carp. We found an actor to replace the one who had to leave due to vocal cord paralysis - so that bit was good. The director is being an idiot about blocking, changing things. That will throw off the actors learning their lines. The director's wife, who is in the show (wonder how she got the part), decided to get in the middle when I was encouraging the director to quit changing the blocking. "Well, he *is* the director." The person who agreed to be assistant stage manager is auditioning for a show and probably won't be able to assist after all. So that means I have to find someone who's both certified and available. Also found out that night that one of the stage crew has to be out of town for work during tech week. And to top it all off, during the middle of rehearsal when I couldn't pick a fight, that actor I thought was interested told me about the married woman he made out with at a club the night before. (She wasn't wearing a ring!) It sounded like a confession at the time, but apparently I was supposed to be astounded as well as happy for him that something so unexpected would happen. So, basically, he's a narcissist and everyone is supposed to fawn over him. But, he can kiss my @ss. I don't play that game.
Saturday was much better. I slept in then went to a movie with my brother and his wife - League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It was alright. That's it. Some of the effects were really cool, but the story was not only thin, but poorly developed. The characters should have been more rounded, fuller. Sunday went to see Pirates of the Carribean. It was really pretty good. It had a sense of humour about itself and the action sequences were good.

Awww, don't be down, you were too good for him anyway. I never liked the sound of him, his eyes sounded too close together.
Some of us appreciate you for the warm lovely person you are, it's his loss.
As for the play, go get 'em girl, and don't take no s%&t from the directors floozy, she obviously slept her way into the job.

Here's a & for being so sweet.
I've talked to the producer & he's aware of the problem. It's really a question of different personalities & organization methods. The director doesn't have any & it drives me nuts.

Thanks for the encouragement. Pride was dented for a while, but I'm doing alright now. I'm only surprised I didn't figure it out sooner.
The music director is working with me now to keep the director in hand.
for you Waz. Thanks for listening.
