Who am I?
Why am I here? What's this big, round thing rushing at me...ok, it's been done. I am a lifelong Douglas Adams fan, and am continually amazed by the insights and unique view of the (ab)normal he showed us.
I am 32, happily married (to a man who continues to smile gracefully at my 'Dead Parrot' rendition) and mother of three wonderful boys. I work for an environmental company near Detroit, MI, USA.
My real home is the majestic Pacific Northwest. I am a reluctant, staunchly transient (or so I've been telling myself for the last ten years) Midwesterner. I grew up on an island north of Seattle, WA and pine for the fjords, or at least the salt water, daily.
We have a dog, Spencer, who would have made a wonderful Hitchhiker's character. Imagine the body of a Newfoundland/Chow mix (bear face, upswept tail, purple tongue) set upon the legs of a Corgi. He's the only 60lb dog I've ever seen that can walk upright underneath a standard coffee table. No, I'm not kidding. He also suffers from 'think apnea' - anytime you ask him a direct question he tilts his head to the side, cocks his ears, and ceases to breathe. Obviously, he only has a set amount of RAM and I've exceeded his capacity.
We also currently house a grey parrot (still alive), a boa constrictor (hasn't yet discovered the parrot), a rabbit, a fish, a gecko and a dwarf hamster. At last count. With three boys, it's hard to keep track.
