Hmmm, Linux... It's a bit more difficult than Windows, let's just say that much. However, it's a great OS if you're willing to work with it.

I assume that anyone who's heard of Linux is probably a good candidate for switching. Only one word of warning: you're gonna have to repartition or get a new/unused box.

oh...well i was considering having 2 OS on my comp. windows (for micrososft games etc...) and linux for other stuff, primarily Bcos i hate Bill Gates...
but then i'd have 2 restart my comp. every time i wanted to switch...which seems like a lot of fooling around for no apparent gain...so i dunno..i shall put some more research in.

CV, you think I'd go and get the version of XP that you need to activate? I'm not that dumb...

And yes, there are different versions of it.

Anyway, you said you lived in CA, right? Which county? My geography teacher's got me learning all of them smiley - smiley

1) Yeah, and even if you buy the commercial version (my dad doesn't like "piracy", erm, software sharing much) activation's pretty damn easy to get around... *devilish grin*.

2) San Bernardino. I can say that safely, since it IS the largest county in the freakin' country.

The story in the recent past:

* Captain Venom (AKA CV) comes from San Bernardio, California, US.
* Windows XP requires product activation, unless you buy one of the multiple-license ones or steal en^^ from someone else smiley - winkeye.
* CV and Moose use Linux; Robert/Metaki's computer's Evil and therefore doesn't/can't.
* smiley - tea

^^En is a French pronoun meaning, to quote my professer du Francais deux,
"whatever we were talking about in the last clause".

smiley - popcornsmiley - chocsmiley - popcorn

Anyway, back to the important topic of my computer (smiley - tongueout). I finally got LiteStep to work (http://www.litestep.net/) - "The other choice of the GNU generation" - and so I don't feel too annoyed at WinXP anymore, because it looks smiley - cool.

San Bernardino COUNTY! I don't live in that squirming mass of pestilence and human filth, TYVM!

Anyway... Litestep looks really cool. I'm currently using a Blackbox CYGWin port in XP, but it doesn't work too well, ie menus won't work right, so I'll have to check it out.

I suppose... but San Bernardino is just not a nice place to be.

Quoth my father: "If there's an armpit of the world, there's an @$$hole. San Bernardino is the latter."

Don't worry. Let me explain: we're both Californians. We're comparing counties. It's nothing you need concern yourself with.
