Selecting Timeless Niceness

Well, since the last entry we've been keeping business busy. Sunday night, we played in a party in the back room of the Old Arcade for Oner Signz (Roni's shop); invites only to make sure it was all mates. Only two decks this time, but we had the groovebox with some fresh samples (I'd been sampling all afternoon) AND we had percussion; bongos, djembe, shakers, cabasa & cowbell. It turned into a quality, mad jam. Wicked!

Then, on monday, we got a call asking us to dj at the aftershow party for the Madness concert on tuesday. We used the club's decks (only two, again) and we took a mike and the groovebox, thinking that they'd have a tidy mixer. They didn't, and the dj cubicle was far to small for me to get into, so just records then. Still, T'was Nice.

Finaly, last night was the last Crate Music before crimbo. Four decks, groovebox and a bit of percussion. It was the best one yet. Ron-1, B and Mike on the decks, me on the samples & effects and Powell, B and myself on percussion here and there. That's it for now, Crate music will be starting again on friday nights in the Slug & Lettuce, Cardiff from january 31st.

STN: Sleepy Town Nightmare

The night went well. Ron-1 and B on the decks, myself on the groovebox. The sound was pumping all night. The only problem was that the pub's heating had packed in, so we were cold all night. Next week is the last one before christmas.

Our night is moving from wednesday to friday in the new year.smiley - ok

STN: sheep talking nonsense

Just come back from a jam (well, about 3 hours ago) and thought I'd write about our project, Crate Music, here. Crate Music is our regular Wednesday night, playing Reggae and Hip Hop in the Slug & Lettuce, Cardiff. The night started two weeks ago with Oner and B on four decks and me keeping an eye on the PA. Last week, B and I had to leave early, but Deano, Leon and some-other-dude-whose-name-I-can't-remember came with some records and everything was cool.

The plan for tomorrow night (the aim of our jam tonight) is to have, in addition to the four turntables, two mikes and a groovebox running. Should be interesting!

um,

It's about time I wrote something here. The problem is, is that I don't know what to write about. I mean, there are plenty of things to write about, but I just can't be arsed to single out any topic and go for it. Maybe if I just waffle on aimlessly then some issue buried deep in my subconscious will eventually rise up and present itself.
