I probably won't be on too much over the next few days as I go to York on Sunday! And who knows how long it'll take me to set up the internet connection on my laptop.

It was the 13th of September. I've now been a "proper" researcher for 3 years.

Just got back from a fortnight in Collingwood on the shores of Lake Huron in Southern Ontario. After a flight delay of more than a day (we arrived for the flight at 9.15 in the morning to be told that it hadn' left Toronto yet - an eight hour flight - finally set off at 1.15 the following morning, only to e forced to land in ottawa not Toronto after our permission to land outside their normal hourse was revoked. We then had to sit on the pane for 3 hours waiting for customs officals to arrive, then had a four hour coach journey to Toronto, then a two hour drive to Collingwood! So essentially we lost 2 days of the holiday - DO NOT FLY WITH THOMAS COOK, is my advice.)
Anyway, once arrived we had a good time, particularly at Niagara Falls (amazing) and in Toronto (CN Tower - v. impressive, and wathced the Blue Jays lose to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in whatwas not, as far as a baseball ingoramus like me can tell, a good game. Oh well.

Laptop

Ok, I'm really annoyed about this and am just venting some steam here.
My dad ordered two laptops for me and my brother to take to uni with us. The company sent an email confirmation but only mentioned one laptop. My dad replyed to say that was wrong, there should be two. He was then eamiled back simpl saying "we've only got one on our files" or something to that effect. So he phoned customer services. The man he spoke to was very helpful, explained what had gone wrong and told him that the second laptop would be sent out with no delivery charge.
My brother's laptop arrived early on Monday with no problems, mine was due on Tuesday. All that was sent was the case and the mouse. I phoned them and they said it would be sent in two seperate deliveries, with the actual laptop to arrive before 5.30 that day. Of course, it didn't.
It has not arrived this morning either. My dad phoned them again, and they said it hasn't even been sent from the suppliers yet. So apparently it'll be here before 9.30 tomorrow, but definately won't arrive today. This is after we'd asked for the express delivery to make sure it arrived before we go on holiday!

and from last year, an AS in Spanish which was a B. So it's fair to say I'm pretty chuffed! 
I'm in at my top choice, York!
