I'm subbing Abelard and Heloise at A36163938.
So far, have only made a few minor grammatical changes/fixed spelling errors.
>>Letters even show that at some point during this period, the couple managed to sleep together in the corner of the refectory!<< Did they sleep or have sex? I think we can say it outright, this sounds like they just moved their bedrolls together.
And shall I change it to the French versions of their names (or at least annotate them) - Héloïse and (Pierre) Abélard?

Yes, they actually had sex.
I think I would leave the names as they are - the academic sources I read all said Abelard and Heloise (though they were Anglo-American sources; I suspect that French books would use the French names).

I've put the footnotes in - not in the first sentence, though, so they wouldn't interrupt it...
Also added some more links.
I'm ready to send it back if you are!

(Oh, interesting fact I found on a French site - for the crime of castrating Abelard, the two "thugs" were both castrated *and* blinded, and Fulbert was expelled from Notre Dame. Shall I add that?)
