h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Some of you may have heard of this, or even seen it.

For those who haven't, the link below will take you to Dr Randy Pausch's shortened version of a lecture he gave at his university. The lecture series he took part in was called 'Last Lectures' because it asked lecturers to think about what they would say if they only had one lecture left before they died.

In Dr Pausch's case, he actually did have only one lecture left. He has Pancreatic cancer and has very little time left to live. It's very inspirational and I hope it makes you all think.

This puts ones own problems into some sort of perspective doesn't it?

Little bit. The last bit made me cry.

He nailed one or two things there, didn't he? It was well worth the watch to see how he turned it around half-way through (although this was the short version, of course), and added something more than just the message that you should 'reach for the stars'.

And Jackie Robinson - well. So many of the things he did are an inspiration in terms of being a sportsman, or in terms of being a campaigner, or of being a human being.

(But can I just say I disagree with the Tigger/Eeyore dichotomy? Being cantankerous is how some of us get our joie de vivre at times. )

Being continuosly let down in office jobs, has made me rethink my path in life. So seeing this and reading two books by John Bird has given me something to think about too.
