Got a letter today saying Oxford University, (Lincoln college) want me to go to them on the 8th December for an interview!

What does an interview imply? It is an interview for being 'allowed' to study, I take it?

No, they interview about 90% of the people who apply in order for them to see who they want most, as there's not much difference between applicant's grades. It helps them get a feel for the person. Only about 1/3 of the people who apply get in, on average.

Yes. Because it's Oxford. Don't get me wrong, York was great, but over the 3 ays I was in Oxford for my interview - well, I just loved it.

The history of the city and the university.
'Educated in Oxford' put an extra weight of quality into the degree, I think (?).
In Denmark we see a lot of Oxford for the time being - the series of Morse mysteries have been running during the autumn.
Then there are the litterature: Dorothy Sayer's, John le Carré's...
Oxford has many connotations - also in European and on different continents.

Exactly, yes. I was hoping to hear today, but it hasn't arrived yet. I'll let you know the result when it does, but I'm not expecting too much - that way you can't be too disappointed!
