fords - number 1 all over heaven

Hi there, and welcome to h2g2! I'm fords, one of the ACEs (Assistant Community Editors) around here, and it's my job to welcome you to the livliest online community you'll ever wish to find! smiley - biggrin

First up, your Personal Space. Use this space to tell everyone else about you and what you like. There's also the Journal at the bottom of the page to let everyone know what you've been up to. You can have anything you like on your Personal Space, but keep it clean! smiley - winkeye You can create your page using plain text or GuideML, which is this site's very own markup language. More information can be found at the <./>GuideML-clinic</.>.

Secondly, if you're not sure where to get started - what to see and do - I've compiled a list of links on this here page - A811874. There are also my own interests over on my Personal Space. If you fancy having a look, you can get there by clicking on my name above, and it saves bogging you down with loads of links here.

Thirdly, your Preferences. If you click on the Preferences tab whilst on your Personal Space, you can muck around with your settings - which skin to use, your display preferences, and of course to change that number into a lovely username!

Finally, any questions or queries? Don't Panic! Simply reply to this message and I will be more than happy to help. Oh yeah, one last thing - I am also a Guru, so if you need any technical help I'm your girl smiley - biggrin

Thank you, kind people smiley - smiley

Well informed? On a few things perhaps. But don't ask me anything about entertainment or the physical sciences! And I think most of my brain has been downloaded into the September 11th conversations anyway...

We can't all be well-informed about everything: that is why discussions exist: to learn new things smiley - smiley

So how are you finding h2g2?

Really enjoying it. I found out about it indirectly - I had some details of the 11th September 1973 military coup in a web link which was part of h2g2. On the anniversary this year I wondered what the "high level" of that link was so worked back through the link string and hey presto! Very excited to have found it.

I'm glad you're liking it smiley - ok

I found it indirectly as well: my mum was doing a course, and for part of it was given the assignment of researching Isaac Asimov. She found an entry about him, and told me about it, thinking it to be a forum about english: which would help me with my English Literature studies....she didn't realise that it was larger!

Hasslefree, following the comments about the nature of truth in an earlier conversation, I thought you might like the reading I've just put on my intro page.
