Sorry, I haven't been around Hootoo much lately. Mostly been keeping up with a few friends in emails and IMs. Still hanging around in this I.D. more than anywhere else.
How are you? Having a nice weekend?

Hi hun...yeah doing fine, I just caught the 2nd of 2 nights of live (this one actually recorded by our CBC radio network, but despite my asking a few times, I didn't find out when it'll be broadcast!) Oh & my new e-mail is now operational, so '[email protected]'...I'll have to investigate their IM at some point - I'll definitely keep you informed.

Hopefully there will be an ad of some sort about the broadcast.
Whenever you get the IM sorted, you are welcome to add my ID to it.

That's good, I had hoped I could...it may be awhile, I'd really like to get the computer cleaned out & upgraded before I do too much! My brother called & said he has a copy of XP to install, it's just a matter of when he's able to do it. And of course there's the matter of getting the computer gutted/cleaned out first.

When I switched computers I burned a lot of document files and photos to cds first. I made sure to save my bookmark folder as well. After that it was a matter of taking a good look at the C drive for anything unnecessary.
After installing XP I deleted a lot of the needless demos and tutors. The new computer has the space, extra stuff just annoys me.
I don't know where it happened exactly, but at some point I surpassed the previous level of geekishness... I used to read a lot. Which was geeky enough. Then I bought a computer, but that was okay, because I was doing art stuff as well as surfing and games. Three years later I bought a nicer computer and it's doing well. It's been two months of the newly expanded job description and I find myself doing spreadsheets and accounting stuff a great deal of the time. Where did it go wrong? From reading and photography to accounting...*shudder*

Well, I suppose there Are worse things!
I'm hoping (& trying to prepare for)it'll be a reasonably painless/convenient transition, when it eventually Does take place! Personally, I sincerely doubt it'll be soon enough...but then again, I suppose I just have more time to prepare.

It could definitely be worse... like not getting paid to do all the things. I tried my darnedest to stay away from office jobs and that sort of thing. My sister was a book keeper at a bank when everything was done in ledgers. My brothers each have a four year degree in business administration (accounting and finance). I'm supposed to be the in this group.
If you save all of your documents, pictures and music to cds and diskettes it is easier to reformat the hard drive without worrying about losing data that you have stored.

I've been ok, gradually getting over things.
Went to Houston Saturday to see Brian Wilson in concert. It was a great show. Brian is really in the best shape he has been in for a long time. Bought a few dvds at a bookstore in Houston on the way home, Sunday.
Almost got stranded in Crowley, La. due to a flat tire... barely made it to a Wal Mart that had an open car care center. Got home and found a chicken roosting in the garage. The chicken stayed from Sunday through this morning. It seems to be gone now, though.

We met up with some members of brianwilson.com Over drinks they were discussing how many albums they have and how many times they have flown across country or in one case to England to see Brian perform. Well, I feel almost normal for hanging out here and having several books by Douglas Adams.

Of course...
It would be rude to tease them by telling them all about this place and not telling them how to get here.
One lady pointed out that all of them met on the internet and asked if anyone was uncomfortable with meeting each other in real life because of the stigma that "Everyone on the internet is psychotic". Then she explained that her and her husband met in a chatroom.

Thanks, Jaz'd.
The tag is a couple of weeks early... so, I can get used to the idea that I've been around here more or less for four years.
In the beginning I lurked for a while before joining. This was my first account, with only a post and a couple of journals before Rupert. My other more familiar account just turned three.
And, in a little less than a month I'll be 36. Where did all that time go?
There are lots of worse things I could have been doing... like shopping.

Ah ok, I guess it's that time in the hospital that's messed up my inner chronometer. You see I missed our annual theatre festival in August - for years it's signalled the seasonal transition (summer into autumn)...I'm a little messed up this year!
