Ah yes alone & then you've got transportation...always seems to work that way, doesn't it? Actually it is easy enough to pass the university's agricultural property en route to the airport. A smiley - coffeejust might be possible...

My work mate seems to have two lefts and two rights. So when I tell him to hang right NOW ... He will invariably go to the other right. smiley - laugh I have no idea where all we saw that morning, being fully dark and hence no inner compass to guess the directions we took. Obviously, we did eventually find it.

Well, if any time or means of mobility comes around, I'll best know on Saturday. And can let you know then.

You could also browse my PS, for an e-mail address that is so-very-cleverly disguised as an envelope. And perhaps suggest a place, two or three that I might try to find ... should times allow.

My daughter phoned, about mid-afternoon, from 'The Rock'. So I had a few long-distance minutes with my baby and her 4 littlies. And of course chatted a bit my my Dad and Dad-in-law. Elsewise, I have been granted my one-of-two lazy days of the year. smiley - laugh

My folks had a crowd already ... one of my sisters, her tribe, a brother and his consort, a couple of nephews and their legacies. So I skipped the 5 hour drive and that 401/Toronto thingie.

I strongly suspect that avoiding the 401(major Toronto motorway)is a wise idea on Fathers' Day. And roughly 110 other days of the year...of course that's just my opinion.

Since the mid-90's, there hasn't been a good day to be on the 401, IMO.

This note coming to you from the St Albert Inn ...

I'm sure you're right on the mark there, the 401 has a certain notoriety!

Aha!

And without the mounds of ice, snow, and -40'ish weather, we find that many wants and needs are all within walking distance, without a need to cross roadways. Nice. smiley - biggrin

Of course, my extra-ordinarily budget-minded (read as cheap) co-worker does find the cost of groceries to be quite high. smiley - groan

Yes, nice community, St. Albert. I had spent alot of time going to'n'fro in the*scratches head*...late 70s. A cousin's wife had been broadsided with both little ones in the car. All 3 were in the Sturgeon General out there, but she was released within 48 hours. The kids-I think 3 and about 1&1/2 at the time-had to stay another few weeks. I've only been out there sporadically since, but it's certainly grown...which I guess is understandable!

Groceries...yeah, you have to shop around a bit. Safeway's defintely more expensive, Save On Foods isn't bad(but then I've got their member card)& IGA is pretty good.

'Save On' is the one just around a small block from here. And they did offer the card. But with only a week and a half in town, I didn't bother with it. Some very basic "take-to-work" lunch staples, a bit of milk and juice for evenings in the room. No major loads, as the room does have a 4-cube fridge, but no heating device. Toaster oven or nuke ...

No for a week & a half it wouldn't make that much difference - not as if you'll be cooking up roast turkey dinners or anything...or for that matter, even heating TV dinners. Having the fridge is nice I guess...

Most of these radio sites tend to be located around very small'ish communities. Not the sort of places where a combination of healthy and economical lunches can be found. So packing a couple of fresh sandwiches and a piece of chilled fruit is quite nice. And if an over-sized delivery of, say ... Chinese, happens, there is a place to keep the rest for the next day.

Restaurants and fast-food gets very old, very quickly.

Chinese food or I suppose something like salsa for corn chips(he says, munching on said chipssmiley - winkeye)

Right you are though, about the restaurants & fast food!

I'm just a boring old farm-kid, and never did much get on with salsa. Even when it seemed the 'in-vogue' thing to incorporate in every meal and occassion. smiley - laugh
