Oh, yeah, abbi, picked up on the 'NO' bit, right away, since it was mentioned practically alongside Cajun food . Actually, sure, there's a fair bit of spicier food up here, you've just gotta know where to look for it. There're a few good Cajun/Creole restaurants, etc. I mean, we had a Prime Minister (Pierre Trudeau), back in the late '60's, who really opened things up, as far as immigration was concerned. Consequently, there're a good variety of ethnic communities, & restaurants.
A fair number of the early settlers, in Alberta (where I am), came either from eastern Canada, the U.K., or from northern Europe, between the world wars. So, as you can imagine, not an awful lot of spice there...aside from some Hungarian Paprika, German or Ukranian Horseradish, etc.
But of course, with all the ethnic influences now, it's easier to get a variety of spices, & 'heat sources'. I fairly regularly buy fresh Cayenne or Jalapeno peppers, at the local Farmer's Mkt. And, there's a good sized Oriental grocery, about 1/3 of a mile south of my place, with all sorts of Szechuan spicing mixes, pastes, sauces, etc. (Gee, get me talkin' about something I like, huh?) My favourite local 'spicy place', is an East Indian restaurant, just a couple blocks east of my place. They've got 5 spicing levels available; mild, medium, hot, atomic (or is it nuclear?) hot, & suicidal hot! And, of course, there's a good sized East Indian community, with a good array of (specialized) grocerys & restuarants. The Vietnamese have a number of restaurants, & I mean, every city has a Chinatown. There's also a fairly good variety of the middle eastern food, be it Lebanese, or whatever. Then again, there're no shortage of your standard burger joints: MacDonald's, Burger King, A&W, etc. Another place I kinda like, for Tex-Mex type food, is Chili's. And, of course, where there's fast food, there've gotta be a few Taco Bell's - need a smiley with a sombrero, don't you think? Oh, & some great Jamaican & Caribean grocers & restaurants (Eirie, mon!).
Better quit, before I salivate all over my keyboard, here, ok .

Oh, yeah, thats great! Walking into the farmer's mkt., & seeing the various fruits & veggies spread out! And, of course, things like baking, preserves, crafts, etc. Actually, abbi, it hasn't been updated recently, but the local business association, in my neighborhood, put together a website...I kinda figured, like the old saying goes, if "a picture is worth a thousand words", well, a good website oughta be worth at least a fair-sized book, huh? So, check out http://www.whyte-avenue.com/ . It should give you a better idea of my community, here.

took awhile for it to break through to my concious, from my subconcious, abbi...I used the old "picture..." phrase, I should've sent some actual pictures! Argh! ~idiot moi!~ while I don't have a scanner, or anything, I had found a site where a member of the community had posted some of his photos, starting out with some from our big multicultural festival, in july...there're also photos of the area, as well as some of the city...http://community.webshots.com/album/45794429nQyMSP Enjoy, ok

yeah, I guess, although its nothing urgent (although, it may be...you never know!), I could really have mine worked on, I'm pretty sure I picked up one of those 'malicious script' virus's/worms...I've just gotten used to cursing a blue streak every now-&-then, & working around it ...of course, I'd really have to tighten up my security before I go back online .

I am still rather ignorant. I am hoping for more memory, seems to be the main drawback. I was hoping it would be no problem. Just adding a Board or two? I found people in other jobs, that like doing computers on the side for fun and cash. So far I have had good luck. I try to keep an eye on security sort of updates weekly.

of course, it doesn't help that...well, basically, you don't know ignorant! this thing's always making me feel 'dumb as a stump', at least once a day! there're times I'm ready to just drop the whole in' thing out my 7th floor window! But, I persevere...
