I see the ol' computer is still on the fritz. smiley - sadface Hope you'll have that sorted out soon. It's quiet without you popping in most days.
If you have time and an informed opinion, tell me if you think I should participate in a petition from the Humane Society against seal hunting practices in Canada. I'd heard years ago that it was pretty barbaric, but somehow thought things had changed by now. What they claim about 98% of the animals being 2 months or less, and some being skinned alive is rather
shocking and a little hard to believe. But the HSUS has a good reputation, so maybe this is true. Thought that you might have more info, being from there.
In any case, hope you are well. Come back soon!

smiley - groanThanks to some 'crossed wires'/miscommunication I won't be back online regularly for quite awhile yet. I Have decided to use the time-or a good portion of it-productively(reading, etc). And I should have an entry to submit to Peer Review when or shortly after I'm back online...And Believe Me, that won't be soon enough! I certainly do miss our conversations & conversations(& the hootoo environment) in general! Be sure to say hello to B'Elana & tell her I miss her.

Well the seal issue is a rather contentious one, in that it Is a brutal/barbaric practice-which totally justifies the humanitarian outcry. However-I'm not Totally up-to-date on this-it's an old & entrenched way of life for(in most cases)people who rely on the income. Of course there are industrial concerns involved...so it's a rather sticky issue. Wish I were better informed but I haven't really considered the issue in quite some time. I have to admit I've taken a bit of a 'head-in-the-sand' stance, preferring to leave it as a regional/east coast issue.

I'm not surprised by your answer to the "seal" question. I suppose the more you know , the less simple it is. Well,I'll look forward to reading that entry and hearing a bit about some good books when the computer woes are over.
till then,
smiley - cheerup
