You're right, I've followed you in here from an interesting thread
You've mentioned a subject very dear to my , but, for the benefit of a little old lady from across the pond, what exactly is dark ?
Wotcha!!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Jan 30, 2004
Hiya Granny!
Dark is just that...dark. Rather than being yellow (in shades ranging from very pale up to almost tan) it is somewhere between brown and black. It has a much "heavier" taste, too, a stronger flavor.
If the brands are familiar to you (I haven't checked your space to see where you're from) it would be the difference between Budweiser or Corona, which are both very light, and Guiness, which my sister eloquently describes as "motor oil".
Clear as mud?
Drop by anytime, I'll always be happy to talk beer!
Wotcha!!

Well, I've tries Bud & Corona, both of which you can get over here in the UK, and of course I've tried Guiness. It sounds as if it could be something like our bitter , Boddingtons, Bass, I think both of these are exported and bitter is my tipple of choice
Wotcha!!

Guiness is actually TOO dark for me to drink very much... it's a meal in every pint! I enjoy Dos Equis Dark and Negro Modelo (both Mexican), Michelob Amber Bock, you name it. You mentioned Bass, it's quite tasty.
When it comes right down to it, the WORST beer I ever had was delicious! So, while I have my preferences, I'll drink nearly anything, particularly if someone else is buying!
I'm sure you and I would get along just fine spending an evening introducing each other to our favorite and , pity we can't hit a pub together!
Wotcha!!

The Northwest of England, not far from Manchester, home of the best brewery in the UK, Holt's. It's an aquired taste, but after one you aquire it
*drinks assorted * hic !
Wotcha!!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Jan 31, 2004
Haven't heard of Holt's, I'm afraid. Living near a class A brewery is a big plus!!!
The most I can say is that I lived near the Coors Brewery in Golden, CO for a while. Not much of a boast...
Wotcha!!
Granny Weatherwax - ACE - Hells Belle, Mother-in-Law from the Pit - Haunting near you on Saturday Posted Jan 31, 2004
I quite liked Coors when I tried it, of course, we can only get imported beer in bottles and that does take something away from it
CO? is that Connecticut? My geography is so bad I thought Madras was in Spain
Wotcha!!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Jan 31, 2004
Sorry, I try to remember not to abbreviate when I'm on hootoo, causes too much confusion. Obviously, too much in real life this evening!
CO is Colorado. And don't worry, I guarantee that your United States geography is AT LEAST as good as my United Kingdom geography!

I'm devoid tonight, haven't been out so I've stuck to the vodka & vimto
Wotcha!!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Jan 31, 2004
I'm guessing that the freshly awakened boss was a bit !
I've a fair stockpile of here, so I'm in good shape for the weekend. At least you're not alcohol free, despite your lack of supplies...
Wotcha!!

You lucky I tend to drink and vodka & vimto in the house as I like my draught.
There's a meet up for one of the h2g2 clubs I belong to, A732458 ,tomorrow *checks clock* later today & there will be lots of drunk there. I'm not going to be fit for anything on Sunday
Wotcha!!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Jan 31, 2004
Looks like a club! Makes me jealous whenever I see people getting together for Meets, since no one I know has ever heard of hootoo...
So lift a pint or three for me, yes?
Wotcha!!
Granny Weatherwax - ACE - Hells Belle, Mother-in-Law from the Pit - Haunting near you on Saturday Posted Jan 31, 2004
