Thanx hun, I'll let u know how she got on at the vet 2moro.....
I feel quite bad coz Kasha hasn't really been out 4 a run l8ly coz of the weather & i ain't been well enough. She gets longish walks, but I
haven't taken her out with her ball 4 a while. I don't suppose u have any good tips on dog training do u? Kasha's really well trained but the only thing i can't stop her doin is growling at ppl, she's very timid & anytime she see's sum1 she doesn't know she growls & barks at them, but if the go near her she starts shakin & runs n hides behind me.... I've tried 2 get her outta it, but i have no-idea why she's so afraid & haven't got any idea how 2 stop her from doin it...xx

I'm no dog trainer, but I've spent a lot of time with them. How old is she? (I think you told me, but I've no memory...) You may have some luck socializing her, especially if she's youngish. Start with one friend, have them come over, but ignore the . That way, she can just approach the person when she feels comfortable. Have the friend stay very mild mannered, no loud noise or sudden moves. Keep doing this, and HOPEFULLY your girl will start getting used to people. If it works successfully with one friend, try a different friend, keep expanding her horizons.
If I were you, I'd talk to the vet about it when you take her in tomorrow. They might have better ideas.

She's 10 & a half month now..... In the house she's better behaved... It's outside that's the problem hun..... Sorry should have said that.
Thanx hun....
I will say 2 vet 2moro, I just want my wee baby 2 be more confident outside. It just hurts 2 see her get so frightened, to my knowledge nuthin bad's happened 2 her, her ex-owners looked like really nice ppl, & they sent me a vid of her when she was 7wks old & puppy photo's & when i got her there was a whole list of training they had done with her n stuff. Kasha was just to rough 4 their wee yorkshire terrier & they had 2 find her a new home. They don't seem like the kind of ppl that would hurt an animal. The guy was crying when we took her, Kasha was crying too. was a very emotional momment. That's why i don't understand why she's scared...... I know her old owners got her from sspca tho...(scottish society for prevention of cruelty to animals), so who knows what happened b4 the old owners got her..... But why would any1 wanna be cruel 2 a wee puppy or any animal 4 that matter?
xx

rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Dec 5, 2003
Unfortunately, humans are the cruelest animals around. I've seen it more times than I care to think about.
May be hard to help her, especially at that age. Hopefully the vet will have some thoughts. It just tears your heart to see furry friends hurting

I know hun, I just dunno how ppl can be so heartless. U wanna know what my biggest dream is.
One day i'll come in2 a lot of money,
Buy a country house with lots of land & open up a cat & Dog rescue center 4 cats that can't be re-homed due to no fault of their own & have my own Vets, trainers & behaviour specialist so that one day they'll be able to be re-homed, fully trained & healthy....
Animal's are so rewarding. It's just so heart warming to see them happy & healthy
xx

rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Dec 5, 2003
Sounds like a fine dream to me! But you're right, it does cost lots of money to get involved on a large scale.
I've some friends in rescue groups around here, who provide foster care for dogs in need of homes, transport them to new families, etc. I help out where I can, but I travel too much to be real heavily involved at this point.

Yeah, I'd do that but Kasha would get to attached & Winnie would get stressed out. I would also get to attached, If i had the space i'd have
all the pets i could fit in my house....lmao..... I'm a sucker for cute wee animals.....or even cute big animals...... I got kicked outta school when i was younger so i decided to volunteer @ the sspca, wasn't there long, the distance was too far to travel everyday. It was really hard work but very rewarding & also upsetting at times but it was fun 2. walking the dogs n seeing their wee faces light up when i went 2 see them.

rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Dec 5, 2003
I haven't done any fostering, as my kids wouldn't tolerate it either. But I've helped some with transports.
There's nothing more joyful than a happy !

Yeah, I had a german shep, Jerrylee, He was my wee baby, I loved/still love him with all my heart, he was 7wks when we got him. But the health probs he suffered from was terrible. We found out he had bad hips early on, vet sed he'd either get much better or much worse, His testicals where stuck in his abdomin & he had 2 get an op 2 get them removed, coz it can cause cancer, then we found out he had a stretched bladder coz of his bad hips, which mad him pee without knowing he was doin it...... We knew he wasn't gonna live long, so we gave him the best possible life we could. We where told not to let him run but he loved runnin about, he was a puppy. he loved runnin & playin with
His best friend Thor (my friends german shep pup) & Jerrylee where like brother's they had such a strong bond. so i let him. It made him happy. It's not the quantity of life it's the quality so i let him have his fun. then when he was 14 months old he collapsed out side when my bf had him out, but he wouldn't let my bf pick him up. I heard Jerrlee yelp
& ran right down the stairs to get him. I didn't try to move him i just gave him a little moral support saying "Cummon Jerrylee, u can do it"
& kept saying it & sure enough he got up & walked to the stair, then my bf carried him up the stairs. He'd been on strong painkillers for at least half his life but they just weren't workin anymore. So i decided it was time to let him go. It was the most humane thing to do. He was spoilt with toys & we'd gave him everything we could, he was happy but he was in so much pain. We had him put to sleep Augest 22 last year. He past away in my arms..... It's still really upsets me, as i'm getting teary now just telling you about it. He was & always will be my wee baby boy, But i'm glad
we had the chance to give him a happy
life while he was here

rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Dec 5, 2003
I'm teary just reading it, thinking of the furry friends I've lost. The thing you've got to remember is that you brought joy and fun into his life, things he never would have had without you.
He was very fortunate to have a person who loved him!

Thanx hun, That means a lot.....
He was a big dog 4 his age. All the vets still remember him, he was a dog with a lot of personality, once seen never forgotten. He was 6 & a half stone when he was 14months old. vets sed he was biggest german shep, they'd seen. Was a big softy though, but wouldn't let anyone hurt my pantner & me..... I have a sort of german shep, shrine now, majority of my ornaments are german sheps, apart from my new one, looks identical 2 Kasha, had to buy it...... I'm a sucker 4 cat & dog ornaments xx

All the furry ones are worth our love and respect, but he sounds like he was a special boy. Sheps are fine dogs, I've never had one, but have known quite a few. Always enjoyed their company!

He was a very special boy. German sheps, are very loving & loyal & i am very privaleged to have known such a beautiful, loyal & caring dog. It's so nice that i his name is now known in a different part of the world, now he's not only loyal & caring but famous too.....lmao..... Like grey friers bobby, if uve never heard of that wee terrier i'll tell u the short version of the story now b4 i go....
Bobby was a terrier dog who lived in Scotland a long time ago with his owner, Then when his owner unfortunatlly died, Bobby, lay on his grave only leaving for food, then going straight back, he did this for years until he passed away still lying on his owners grave. He's a very famous dog here, he even had a statue built in his honor.
It's a sad but beautiful story.
I'm away 4 now.
Faith xx

I have, indeed, heard of Greyfriar's Bobby. I won't say he's famous here, but most true dog people know of him. Loyal to the end.
It's kind of sad talking about this stuff, but it's good too. We need to remember ther friends we've lost, be they human or animals.
I may still be on later, but if not, take care!

Haven't seen a film. I remember seeing him in a "Ripley's Believe It or Not" book when I was a kid (which made a h*ll of an impression at that age), and I've seen references to him in various animal tv shows.
