Happy Birthday Ranger!

*jots herself some notes*
I searched the site, and the local health food place does carry their stuff, so I may head on into town. I'm not real energetic, but I do feel like fresh air and a LITTLE activity would be a good thing.
I may look at getting some of their "System Well Immune system" too. I take a multi-vit and a C&E mix, but it seems like I'm sick constantly these days. Maybe something like that would help.

Does your multi include minerals? Zinc helps with fighting infections, chromium stabizes blood sugar, calcium for bones and teeth,...
Did I mention that I work in a natural food store?

The food store connection would explain the vast knowledge!
Yeah, it's multi-vit, mineral, and has ginko and ginseng. Of course, if I were more consistent about remembering to take it, it would probably do me more good...
But, I'm REALLY sick of being sick, so that should be a good incentive!
On that note, I think I'm going to wander off to town for a little while, do some shopping, have a little lunch!
Thanks for the advice, Evangeline, it's appreciated!

You're welcome.
I've worked at that natural food store since 1991, and it only seems like forever.
Have a nice trip! I hope you find what you need in town.

Well, they had the Fennu-thyme, so I got it. They didn't have the immune system stuff. Did my town run, then came home and took a nap!
Since you're an expert on the subject, how much difference is there between brands? I assume the stronger stuff at health stores is better than WalMart generics, but is there much difference beyond that? The local place only carried a few Nature's Way products.

The difference between brands is a tricky subject so one step at a time...
Ingredients: should be all natural and no fillers or preservatives preferably organic or "wildcrafted".
Potency: There is a difference between mg of weight of the herb per capsule and the mg of standardized active ingredient at a particular concentration.
If the possibilities are narrowed down to natural, same potency, and all that separates is the brand... Then the brands such as Schiff, which is available at Wal Mart, are okay. There are other brands such as Nature's plus, Garden of Life, and Nature's Way that do not make their products available to discount mass marketing out of respect for the natural food industry. If those products were sold to wal marts, wal mart would buy cases and cases to get volume discounts (which would undercut natural food retailers). Also, with some products, such as perishable herbal remedies, this isn't good because it causes more than necessary manufacture and inferior quality is a possibility.
If a choice was between two reputable brands, say Nature's plus and Nature's Way, all else being equal I'd pick the least expensive.

Cool, that helps! I didn't know if this was a case where you needed to shell out bucks for "top of the line" stuff, or if the products were really pretty similar. I'm a generic buyer for some things, but I understand the need for quality in many areas, like medication and toilet paper!

Yeah, I am, thanks!
Still far from a bundle of energy, but I made it through most of the workday before I pooped out. So that's a vast improvement!
You alright today?

It's about time I mended, I've been sick ever since I went to Pennsylvania!
Housework's a bore, but better than major catastrophes, I guess

It's been a couple weeks...I started coming down with it on the 15th
Between the travel, the wrist, and getting sick, this place needs some SERIOUS housework done!

Hi, Evangeline! Didn't see your post until just now, have been jumping between Hootoo and football.
K-State leads Oklahoma! GO, WILDCATS!
The cold is mostly gone, though the cough lingers. I feel a lot better, even if I don't sound it. The wrist continues to be a pain; details in my journal if you're interested.
Oops, game's back
Happy Birthday Ranger!

I read your latest journal. Sorry about the looming prospect of surgery. I've worn wrist braces(ace bandage material with a metal splint up the middle), they are not comfortable to anyone, more of an annoyance really.
Take it easy on the wrists... no more handstands and s...

I'll try and restrain myself, though it'll be tough if we hold the lead!
I am definitely WAY ready for this wrist mess to be over with!
Everything ok with you other than housework?
Key: Complain about this post
