D@mn straight Xena Rocks!
Right now, New Mexico is HOT. I'm way past ready for summer to be over! We did finally get some rain last night, though, and we needed it badly!
Thanks for dropping by, stop in anytime!
Hey there. hi there!
SLAVE2WILLOW Posted Aug 30, 2003
You should be in England hun, its true what they say, it does rain most of the time..... on saying that we've had some blazing heat the past month but its cold and rainy again at last!
Xena and Gabrielle Forever!
Hey there. hi there!

After almost 12 years of being a desert rat, I think I'd rust if I lived somewhere damp!
I keep hoping there's going to be a Xena movie, but so far no luck . I'll only see it if they use the original cast, though. Just can't picture any other actresses in those roles!
For some reason, I just never got into Buffy and the various spin-offs. I'll have to check them out on DVD sometime, see what I think.
Hey there. hi there!
SLAVE2WILLOW Posted Aug 30, 2003
A Xena movie would be brilliant, but it HAS to be the original cast!!! No-one else could possibly play Xena.... it'd be a crime!!!!!!
It took me almost 4 years to get into Buffy and now I'm kinda addicted to it! Sad but true.
I wouldn't suggest London then, you'd probably seize up
Hey there. hi there!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Aug 30, 2003
Yeah, I would seize up if I moved to London, and wind up walking around like the Tin Woodman from the Wizard of Oz..."Oil me!"
I think my problem with Buffy was that I didn't see it from the very beginning. By the time I saw it, the plot and characters were so developed it didn't make sense to me. Oh well.
Xena, on the other hand, I saw almost from the beginning. So even when it was goofy, I knew what was going on. And enjoyed it immensely for the most part!
Hey there. hi there!
SLAVE2WILLOW Posted Aug 30, 2003
I walk around like the tin man most of the time and Ive lived here all my life!!
Thats the good thing about Xena, it doesn't matter where you came in because its like a mini movie each week and as there are really only 2 characters, it never gets hugely confusing!
Buffy scrambles my brain totally at first but once I got the general idea, it as pretty easy to follow!! Also, having Alyson Hannigan in it was a good enough reason for me to keep watching!
Hey there. hi there!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Aug 30, 2003
Yeah, Xena has lots of subplots, but you don't have to follow them all to enjoy it.
My one major character was Joxer! Couldn't stand him!
Hey there. hi there!
SLAVE2WILLOW Posted Aug 30, 2003
Really??? Granted, he could be irritating but he was kinda sweet!
Do you have a favourite episode?
I think mine has to be the one with the Bacchea, (vampire things) there's something intensly personal about certain parts of that one, and the sexual subtext became more obvious, even to the occasional viewer!!
Hey there. hi there!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Aug 30, 2003
I guess I'll have to credit Jox with having his good moments, but overall he just made me grind my teeth! Anytime I saw an ep where he sang the "Joxer The Mighty" song, it'd stick in my head and drive me nuts!
Yeah, the Bacchae ep was pretty intense. As far as "subtext" episodes, I guess I'd have to go with "Heart of Darkness", in the final season, where Xena sends Lucifer to H*ll. The orgy in the temple scene was one of the rowdier parties I've seen on network TV!
I think my overall favorite would have to be "Been there, done that", the one where the day keeps repeating. Too funny! But, if you asked me the same question tomorrow, you'd probably get a different answer.
Hey there. hi there!
SLAVE2WILLOW Posted Aug 31, 2003
I know what you mean about 'Joxer The Mighty' I gat a few of the soundtracks from Xena and thats on one of them and I cant help singing along, even my parrots know the tune now!!
I've not seen Heart of Darkness... but I sure will now!
Call me perverse but what was the episode where Xena and Gabrielle finally kissed? I know it happened but England's not hugely Xena friendly and its hard to track down.
Hey there. hi there!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Aug 31, 2003
They finally kissed in the very last episode, although the producers hid it under the pretense of Gab passing healing water to Xena. Unfortunately, Xena actually STAYED dead at the end of the ep. Although doing a movie would still be easy enough, as many times as Xena's been resurrected before...
I absolutely hated the last episode. They should have let the grrls ride off into the sunset together, not killed Xena off!
That's a bummer that England isn't Xena friendly. I've got all 6 seasons on video, and am getting the DVD's as they are released. They've only got the first 2 seasons out in that format, though.
What can I say, I'm addicted!
Hey there. hi there!
SLAVE2WILLOW Posted Aug 31, 2003
So much for healing water then!!
A movie would be so cool, there's so much they could do without worrying about the censors!
I gotta say the one that got me was when Xena and Gabrielle were crucified.... the whole 'I love you' bit just before the crosses went up was beautiful, for so long I'd been waiting for them to say it and I cried for ages.... but that may have been coz it was shown @ about 5am here and I'd stayed up from the previous day just to watch it, but thats the one that gets me everytime!!
Is there a website where I can get the dvd's, I started collecting on video but they take up far too much room!! Dvd's always better coz of the extras.
Hey there. hi there!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Aug 31, 2003
The place I've ordered from is: http://www.xena-herculescatalog.com/
I don't know if you'd have any compatibility issues, since you're in London? I assume you guys use the same DVD format as we do, but then I've been wrong before!
I don't know what episodes you've seen from the last season (if any) but they were a lot more open with the subtext towards the end. If you consider them soulmates, you'll like the episodes, except for the finale.
Hey there. hi there!
SLAVE2WILLOW Posted Aug 31, 2003
As long as I have a certain feature on my dvd player, they should be ok.... I hope!
I didnt see too much but its being repeated here from the start so hopefully they'll run thru to the very end.
Its so obvious that they were in love and meant to be together and the power they had in the 1 where they combine their strength thru mendhi to kill..... oh, whats her name, the woman who predicted Xena's baby wouldnt know its real parents.... anyway, when they combined to kill her!
I think they were definately soulmates, thats episode comfirmed that for me!!
Right hun, Ive been and am so coz its now 3am here, so Im off to my warm bed!
Hope to chat to you soon tho!
Take care.

Hi hun,
Sorry not stopped by for a while but I get this thru my tv and it's been playing up big time!!
Saw Altared States again a couple of days ago... how funny was Gabrielle in that! I'd forgotten how great she was when she's drugged! lol.
How ya doing out there in the desert? Found any or yet?
( couldnt help myself!>
Hey there. hi there!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Sep 5, 2003
Just as well you haven't been looking for me, I just got back from 5 days out of town. Can we say, TIRED? I knew we could! Dunno how long I'll be on this evening.
No sightings, I'm afraid. I did live in Roswell, capital of the world, for over 8 years, believe it or not! No sightings then either, though.
Yeah, the "rock concert" in Altared States was a riot!
Hey there. hi there!
SLAVE2WILLOW Posted Sep 5, 2003
One of those was it?? lol.
I've always wanted to go to Roswell, although someone would try and capture me and do tests on me to make sure I was human..... I gotta wonder about that sometimes!!
Wonder if Demi Moore's an alien?
Hey there. hi there!
rangerjustice (formerly warrior ranger) Posted Sep 5, 2003
I hope if there is life out there, that it's friendly... anal probes don't sound like any fun!
And no, Demi's not an alien. We would have seen the weird thing on the back of her head when she shaved it for G.I. Jane!
And yes, it was a long week, culminating in a Quarters game that lasted until midnight last night. Unfortunatly, I've become an old fogey, and no longer play Quarters worth a flip, so I became VERY ! Oh well, you only live once!
Continuing the Xena theme: who's your favorite character, and why?
PS If I bail out on you, don't be offended! It'll be exhaustion, not lack of interest!
