Hi, I just wandered into your space, and peeked also at your journal entry. I am new (this week)& had no idea anyone was into bashing, but I do agree completely with your response to it. You have the perfect job, I can't imagine the peace and satisfaction you must get from it. I share my house, food, furniture and everything else I own with my three canine friends, and they too, resent my computer. The little boy ( joey) marked it ( actually the desk) for me a few weeks back, and I still haven't figured out if it was revenge or selfishness ( he usually doesn't lay claim to my posessions) Anyway, you're welcome to visit my space, I haven't yet made any journal entries. smiley - smiley

Howdy, hollypuppy! Glad you dropped me a line!

Sounds to me like joeysmiley - dog was making a bit of a statement about the "competition"! Fortunately, mine haven't done anything quite that pointed towards my machine, but they sure wouldn't mind if it broke and never worked again!

I do enjoy my job. I've been with NM State Parks for 11 years now, and worked seasonally up in Colorado for 3 years during college. I couldn't live in the cold anymore, like you apparently do, though. Every muscle and joint I've torn up would hurt! You and your work life do sound like a contradiction in terms, but hey, that keeps life interesting!

So what are your critters? I've got Roxie, an 11 year old chocolate lab; Buck, a 9 year old German Shorthair Pointer; and idgit, a small gray hellcat who specializes in making mischief. My house is operated strictly for their comfort and pleasure, and they wouldn't have it any other way!

Drop by and chat anytime, and welcome to h2g2!

I agree, my job givs me something to ponder, laugh at and also pays for the puppies comforts, so I shouldn't complain to much. Maggie and holly are sisters, from the same litter and joey I found a few christmases back, I almost ran him over, I thought he was a black rat.smiley - mouse I got out of the car and he was under it eating paper. He was only 6 weeks old, (his baby teeth were just coming in). He looks now like tramp from Lady and the Tramp. And the girls, look like bichons, but we believe they are cockapoos. Based on what their brothers look like. Did I mention my family ended up with the whole family including the mom? My brother worked for the humane society and the mom came in pregnant, parvo was going around the building, we fostered them and none of them went back. My house I actually bought for them. I would've been just as happy staying in my apartment, but houses were cheaper than rent then, and I ran out of time. I was going to get one anyway, this just bumped it up by a year or so.I see it as fate, now I couldn't afford to get a house here.I am getting numb from sitting on this computer, I can't believe how addictive this is. Yeah, it is an addictive place!

Nice to hear that other folks can't turn away from critters in need...I'd hate to be the only one with an ever-changing menagerie of kids!

smiley - cheers later!

Well, I am back, I am going to have to up my isp time, I only had 20hrs a month, but I can see that I use it too much for that to work anymore. I just found out that I can add titles to my name somehow by joining different societies on this site. This is all so much more in depth of a thing than I realized, but what the heck, its a new and very different experience, and actually a really cool one at that. Are you limited where you live to a certain number of furry friends? Up here you can only have 3 I believe unless you get a permit, and for me that's probably for the best. I don't have land or I would have goats, chickens, all the animals I used to want as a kid would be living with me. Anyway, sleep calls.smiley - doghollypuppy

Two Bit Trigger Pumping Moron

I've thought about moving from local law enforcemnt to being a federal law enforcement ranger. I applied for a LE Ranger job out in Arkansas near where my mother lives and at the Martin Luther King Site here in Atlanta. I went through part of the process for a Conservation Ranger postion with the Georiga DNR, but I don't think I could afford the pay cut and the lousy retirement that the state has.

My wife and like to viist the state parks here in Georgia. Sometimes we take our 9-year-old choclate lab, Sable, along too. I love going to parks, and it would be nice to police there.

What all do you do as a park ranger?

What do I do as a park ranger? You name it, I probably do it, at least occasionally!

Since I've moved into management, obviously I'm stuck with a lot of paperwork. I'm a certified, commissioned officer; as a matter of fact, I've got to leave for Qualifications tomorrow. Here at this park I don't have to do a lot of law enforcement (fortunately) but I do maintain my commission.

I also do whatever needs done for basic park operations: clean toilets, empty trash, do minor site maintenance and repair. I also lead hikes, do tours of our historic ranchhouse, talk to school groups when they come out.

Basically, we're supposed to know everything, be able to fix everything, and keep track of all our visitors. We wear a whole bunch of hats!

Drop by to chat anytime...I've seen you in some threads, and you've always got interesting ideas!

smiley - cheers
