Why frustrated GD? Why not content, well-adjusted and successful? smiley - winkeye But anyway, I'm not an English major... and I'm a 'he', if that helps your pronominalisation smiley - ok

Ah fwt, that's the thing! I'm much more like Sal, the observer, the writer... okay, so I can't go too much further in depth, I've only read the book once smiley - winkeye But I found Sal much more interesting than Dean; Dean was just charismatic, mysterious and exciting, and where's the fun in that? smiley - tongueout

Post 32

erm....random recommendations include enders game or enders shadow by Orson Scott Card, To kill a mockingbird by harper lee, Margaret Atwoods Handmaids Tale, or her newest one, I like some of the 'young adult' stuff as well, including Philip Pullman, Harry Potter, and William Nicholson.

Anymore...I'll have to have a think.

Recommendations of your own?

Hmm... well, I tend to read authors rather than just books, so I'll give you a couple of those... John Irving, though I've grown rather tired of him lately (and 'The Fourth Hand' was, I thought, very ordinary), P.G. Wodehouse is simply outstanding, Kurt Vonnegut (though I've only just started reading him), and I must confess to being quite a fan of Dickens, despite the fact that everyone seems to rubbish him these days.

These are just starters with authors: because I often don't know which book to read first: so was being helpful!

I want to read some Dickens...its on my to do list...I like some classical poetry like Emily Dickenson and Wilfred Owen: his war poetry is phenomenal!

Oh for sure, and I must admit I haven't read any of those authors... so little time! My favourite Dickens would have to be David Copperfield I think, Pickwick papers is good too. Oh, and E. A. Poe - absolute must-read! smiley - smiley

No and yes... I must say though, my favourite Shakespeare would have to be The Merchant of Venice... I don't really know why, just because smiley - winkeye
