Hello there! Welcome to h2g2!
Ooo, mimetics? Tell me about that! I'm all about genetics and I've heard of memes, is it the study of memes?
Anyway, I'm an ACE (Assistant Community Editor), which means that my job is to scour h2g2 for new researchers and welcome them, say hello, offer a cup of (or sometimes an
) and generally be helpful around the site.
Here are a few links that might help you get you to get started within the guide:
Here's a page that a fellow ACE, Rocket Man, made to help newbies around the site, it's great, sometimes I use it , click here => A725500
The h2g2 welcome page is at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Welcome
In my opinion, the most fun part of h2g2 is "Ask the h2g2 Community". It's a conversation forum that invites you to ask any question you can possibly think of, and fellow researchers will try to answer. You can start debates you can even try to answer some of the perplexing questions that our downright smart and good-looking researchers are wringing their hands over. It's here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A148907
Something along a similar vein, but less popular, but also less hectic is the "How Do I..." forum: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/HowDoI
The "Don't Panic! Help Centre" is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/DontPanic if you get seriously stuck.
I hope you enjoy yourself here at h2g2, it's a great community. If you have any questions about the site don't hesitate to ask. You can drop me a line here, or go over to my user space (by clicking on my name) and grabbing me there.
Good luck
