thanks v much! I am currently being befuddled by the GuideML page in an effort to spruce up my personal space, as advised by B....
I am a technophobe so it's proving a bit difficult to come to terms with!

BobTheFarmer Posted Dec 10, 2002
Oh, it'll all fall into place, it took me ages to figure out guideML and the like...
Best thing to do is the testuserpage thing, basically, to see the guideML in someones Uspace, just type the address and then testuserpage instead of the U. ie:
my space: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/U188061
GuideML for my space: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/testuserpage188061
Well, enjoy, have fun getting to grips with H2G2!

Thanks, you're very kind.
I will get on with it now. I'm starting to sort out a couple of things but I suspect it will be a work in progress for quite some time...

Yeah, I really need to do something decent with my space, I did it to kill time at work and its looking very mundane and boring...
Cant be a**ed these days though, I have no imagination...
Interesting h2g2 fact number 45434: The word A**ehole has to be starred, as its a swearword, however the American version asshole, for some reason isnt.

hi,
yeah, I had found that yesterday when I went looking round his stuff, so he doesn't need to kill you.
How's work going today?
By the way, don't worry about the "...", I do it far too often myself and I think it just makes it more like a spoken conversation where one tails off and leaves it hanging in the air... (!)
Off for a to battle against the overwhelming urge to fall asleep on my keyboard.

some days i go for a , but some days it makes me feel a bit so i opt for the old faithful , which I love.
I am supposed to be a Civil Engineer, but I needed a job fast when I moved home and I've been put in the "client support" section...I had thought I would be moved to engineering stuff within the company, but sadly this is looking less likely every day
Basically I spend I sizeable amount of time putting useless info into spreadsheets and talking to people on the phone. I am, in essence, a go between between the people on site and the customers so I generally get everybody complaining to me and I can't often do anything about it.

Hehe, Im supposed to be a Lab Analyst, but that would be much better replaced with 'Trained Monkey'. All I do is repetitive boring work all day long, same thing day after day...
The only time we are actually required to think is when something goes wrong, hence why I end up on here all day, need somewhere to exercise the old brain cells.
So how long have you bee a member of h2g2, I only found askh2g2 after about 8 months...

ummm....I think i stumbled across it in about mid September. It came up on the bbc intro page so I clicked on it to see what it was all about, and haven't really left it since!
How long have you been wandering about here?

BobTheFarmer Posted Dec 11, 2002
Well, I joined about a year ago, when it became obvious that I couldnt cope with the boredom of work, and the BBC site is the only one you can access through a loophole in the firewall (I live in terror someone will find this and close it). I spent about 8 months or so reading every relevant guide entry in alphabetical order, and then found the askh2g2 and the other communities.
Now I run POO, I am a member of The Motorcycle Club, the Procrastinators society, PUDDING, and am a Keeper of Real Heavy Metal and Hardcore.
Watch out, you will become addicted!!!

I think it's too late and I already am! Am considering joining the procrastinators' society since that is very definitely what I am...
What does it offer in the way of distractions?

BobTheFarmer Posted Dec 11, 2002
The Procrastinators?
I dont actually know, I joined and havent actually really been back, too busy procrastinating I suppose...
So, where does the name Ferino come from?
Evenin' all
Ferino Posted Dec 11, 2002
Well, I'm Jennifer. Most people shorten it to Jenny, but my flatmate from last year decided to be a bit original and take the other end - Fer.
It's all gone a bit silly now, Fer got turned into Ferino and then sometimes F'rino and lots of people have taken to calling me it.
So there you go.

Similar thing happened to a friend of mine called Jessica, obviously everyone called her Jess, then my mate, her boyfriend at the time decided to call her 'sica' which came out as 'sca'. Its slightly stuck...
Me, Im not Bob at all, you'd never guess my real name at all. Im not a farmer in the classical sense either, but in the illegal sense...

Or Joseph if you want to use my English middle name...
But Bob'll do fine!!!

BobTheFarmer Posted Dec 11, 2002
Ummmm, nowhere really, the first internet message board I became a regular on was dedicated to growing, of the illegal kind
Obviously I didnt want my real name coming out there, and I couldnt think up any interesting names, so I went ultra mundane, as a kind of opposite from my far too exciting real name. End of story really, I came here and I already though of myself online as BobTheFarmer anyway, so...
