... although, I'd be the first to admit, it's more of a Danny Wallace venture...
Have you seen what he's done now? Hanne must really love him, that's all I have to say

Well - you should have a look at his website for the plot, but in a nutshell...
In true idea forming mould, Danny was bored. So he put out an ad in a London newspaper with the words, 'Join me' plus address a bit of blurb adding that you had to include a passport photo of yourself.
This was continued on his website... and to his surprise, lots of people replied, who wanted to join him. People from all over the UK, Europe and indeed the world.
They then proclaimed Danny their 'leader', of what though, they did not know. Problem is, neither did he...
He then decided to get his loyal followers to do good things, from what I'm inferring from his website, Amelie-style. Concequently, he made a lot of people happy.
He then travelled out to meet his followers, and of course, nearly cracked his relationship with Hanne (again). The book about it is out in June BTW...
So in essence - he started a cult - by accident...
Rather apt - I think... had me laughing with disbelief last night, because I thought he was the sane one out of the Dave-Danny combo...

I've just had a look at his site.
The man is mad. But brilliantly so.
The idea seems to start out in a similar fashion to the RUDG? thing. Seemed a vaguely interesting thing to do if you're bored, but quickly balloons out of all control.
Can't wait for the book.

The front cover for the book is brilliant - his rabbit-in-headlights look just cries out 'Help - I'm trapped!'

I think I'll make a mention of it on the DGASCFT page.
I've already got Danny's site on there, I believe.

Yes, that is highly tempting. Seriously considering doing it.

Just pre-ordered the book on Amazon.
Pre-ordered the next Harry Potter book at the same time. And the next Artemis Fowl. And the next Pratchett. And the next collected Batman graphic novel.
Ahem. I fear I may have gone overboard there.
