And there are things he actually believes in - even if I disgree with some of them - besides his own ambition. And he certainly bringgs home the pork. But........I don't feel like I have a representative in Congress. First and foremost because he has achieved a position where he works for the Republican Party - not for the district he represents.

Ambition isn't entirely a bad thing to have, Hyp. Perhaps before politics got the way it is now anyhoo. If someone really wants to succeed, he should only be able to do so by representing his constituents the best way he knows how and doing what's right. Following any other path to success is not how Democracy should work.

Oh, and it's hard to find many House Majority Leaders who don't work for their parties...

Exactly. That's why districts with a majority leader or whip or minority leader or whip don't have representatives. Not that all of the others do much of a job in that respect, either.

Ambition can be healthy. But it shouldn't override ethics and principles. Even good qualities can be taken to extremes. Living with a saint, for example, would be the pitts.

Most of the pork Blunt brings to the district winds up someplace besides here. I can't actually think of anything he has done for us lately. But district-wise, he has always brought in a lot of money. So he is doing his job in that respect.

I wish I knew him well enough to call him up and ask him to have a long talk with his son about library funding. But I don't and he wouldn't. The rumor mill has been in high gear about the family for some time. If what you hear can be believed, the two aren't good buddies.
