The Immortal words of the Eleventh Doctor
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Awix Posted Jan 5, 2010
Less use as a catchphrase though. (And why is it suddenly essential for each new guy to have one?)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Anything the fith said about cricket
Anything the sixth said when one word would have done
"Humans, always seeing patterns that aren't there"

Hmmm. I'm really thinking of the post-revival boys here, which means, yes, 'fantastic', 'I'm so, so sorry' and 'Geronimo' (to judge from EoT2 and the trailer).
Saying 'anything about cricket' is hardly a catchphrase as the term is generally understood, same goes for Sixie banging on - that's a character trait.
'Reverse the polarity...' is a bit of a fan myth as I think Pertwee only actually says it twice on TV (and the second time it's an in-joke). And so on...
My main point is that 'Geronimo' seems to have been custom-designed as a catchphrase, as if it's somehow vital that he have one... and I don't think he does!

Perhaps I'm being a little cynical, and have removed my rose tinted glasses slightly (its tough they're usually welded to my face), but I don't think the old production teams were beyong such things...

Well, yes, and the examples that spring most readily to mind - clothing deluged in ?-marks, vegetables in unlikely places, etc - are the same sort of things that turn up on lists of reasons why DW went off a bit in the 1980s. It's a bit too calculated and knowing for me.

Yes I definately think the question marks were a bit off, I remember Sylvester McCoy being quite keen to get rid of them, and I got the impression that the alternate season 27 (with Sylvester McCoy in 1990 instead of Christopher Eccleston in 2005) would have phased it out... though I can't remember where I got that impression, hopefully I haven't made it up...
That said I thought a lot of stuff in the first of the newer episodes (incidently I like how Steven Moffat is calling this new series, series 1 again ) with Christopher Eccleston was very much like that. After the initial excitement of 'Rose' I'll be honest I was worried, until I saw 'Dalek' and then I relaxed. I've just got used to it I guess.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

An all series fan I'll have you know I'm a seemingly rare breed, especially since I was a small child when the "old" series was paused. Surely these things would make me an ideal candidate to write for Doctor Who. Come on Mr Moffat, what are you waiting for?! Sign me up!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
