Well I hope you don't mind me coming into your PS like this and thanks for your time...

Hi there smiley - smiley

Its always a pleasure to meet new people. I'm afraid that Terrania and Terranic Army have gone a bit by the way side. Unfortunately I fear spook has disappeared - at least for the moment - and I have little time for the groups at the moment.

If you want to join the post the woman you need to speak to is Shazz. Now sometimes (and I have discovered this from time to time) it can be a little difficult to get hold of the woman, as she does such a fantastic job of managing real life and running the post. I know I couldn't manage the two at the moment.

Shazz's user space can be found here : U48304. However Shazz hardly ever uses that space now since she became in charge of the post, so the best place to find her is at the main post team user space : U54963.

The other significant member of the post team is Greebo, essentially Shazz's second in charge. She also uses the above user space.

Now on this space it should give you all the information you need to contact her (either by leaving her a message on the post space or by sending her an e-mail, which should be shown on that space).

The way I got in to the post was I wrote the first few parts of my story "168th greatest story in the universe - a tribute" (which ever since I have wished I'd made the title shorter for conversations such as this smiley - winkeye), and asked Shazz if she would be interested in serialising them in the post, and if she was I'd continue writing the story. She seemed quite enthusiastic, and I did that.

What I would suggest though is that if you do want to write for the post, get the parts written in advance, not like me rushing to get them finished just before the deadline (I think Shazz has stopped people doing it this way - or at least has politely asked people not to) which is healthier for you and her... and that reminds me theres one other member of the team I've forgotten : Awix.

I don't know how Shazz is running it at the moment, because I've been out of the Post for about six months, but when I was there all the fiction serials were being edited by a guy called Awix. He's a great guy, but you may want to arrange with him to get your parts finished a fair bit in advance so that you can ask to see the edits he's made, if thats what you want to do.

Right, so thats the low down. I hope I haven't scared you off with that lot, because I personally really enjoyed writing for it. Theres a yahoo group which can be interesting when enough people are there, so you might want to ask Shazz about.

Annnnyyyway... I hope I've answered your question, and don't be afraid to ask if you want any advice (I say as if he knows anything about it smiley - winkeye) or if theres anything else you want to know... ask smiley - biggrin

Thanks for calling round,
Verc

No worries mate and thank you for replying - it is just the poetry I am interested in doing on the post - the novel I am looking to do and try and publish in RL.... first shot of many probably to come but I just am trying to keep continiously writing at the moment...

So how did you start writing anyway? Are you a big reader and what books do you like?

Well I've never had anything published, but I started writing a few ideas down in my first year of University (I did a Computer Science degree, so I'm not sure where this interest came from). A friend of mine suggested we try to write a comedy for the BBC - which got nowhere, but did give me some ideas in general about writing.

I'm sure you don't really want to know my lifes story, but anyway I came on here a couple of years back and I liked the idea of learning how to write stories by getting people to comment on them.

I wouldn't really say I'm a big reader. I go through spells when I'll digest a book in no time and then I'll go for months when I don't read anything at all. Its all about time I guess. I've read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and I've also read a lot of Doctor Who books. I've read a number of the Sherlock Holmes stories. I've recently started to read Terry Pratchett books, I recently finished reading "Nightwatch" and I'm on "The Thief of Time" at the moment.

So like I said I don't really /know/ a lot about writing, what I do know has been self taught.

Well it all is when you read and if you ever take a creative writing course it will not teach you much beyond English skills and the excuse and time to write (I studied creative writing and psychology at Uni). I started writing poetry on a whim while on an college exchange at Amsterdam and did the odd bit here and before trying now to do a more serious shot at it....

Nightwatch is a damm good book and I liked thief of time too... Never got into the Doctor Who books but I have read LOTR, Hobbit, Similarion and would reccomend Margaret Weis as an author if you do like Fantasy... damm good character writer....

Are there any Margaret Weis books you'd recommend?

Any of the Star of the Gaurdians series (4 books - kings sacriface, kings test, ghost legion and one other I cannot remember off the top of my head) or the Xris Cyborg Trilogy (Knights of the Black Earth, Robot Blues and Hung out)....

These are a connected series of books all set in the same Sci-fan setting and I would say are some of her best work...

If you prefer more fantasy than sci-fan I would also say the death gate cycle (a whopping 7 books though) are really good too....
