Hi zoomer!
Just having a nosey after you posting on 'Fate of the Universe'
I'm quite interested in science, fact and fiction. In fact, thirty years ago when I was still in the RAF, my maximum number of SF books was around three hundred or so, including a number of 'Ace Doubles' (Heard of them?)
I also have, rather battered now, the full set of 'Science Fiction Monthly'
Added to that, I had a seven years collection of OMNI....Now gone as I had no room for them as there was not enough room in this old persons flat we now occupy.....
Ah well. Nice chatting.
Seeya!

Ace Doubles and Omni!
That brings back some fond memories. I remember flipping over a double and getting the feeling that I was getting two-for-one. Omni for some reason I remember for it's covers-

Science Fiction Monthly I remember but I think of that time and Isaac Asimov's mag.
Because of my chosen hobby of fixing up my home and then selling it a year or two later, I've cut down on collectibles. I still have a few choice books I would never get rid of and of course my cameras (which have very little monetary value but I like them). As it happens, I have one double, I'll dig it up the next time I have a clean up and tell you what it is. I remember a big headed scientist on the cover...and I can't remember the other side!
Nice chatting indeed, thanks for dropping by!

Hi again.
Just had a dig around. Found one 'Asimovs Sci-Fi Mag', going back to Sept '78...(Just after 'Sci Fi Monthly' had stopped.
Ah, the artwork. Magical names come back to me: Like Kelly Freas, Bruce Pennington, Tim White (With his TW monogram somewhere in the picture) and Chris Foss (again monogrammed 'somewhere' with an 'F' in a shield) All Doc Smiths books were done by him, and my first job in getting a new aquisition with Fossy artwork was to find that monogram!
My 'Ace Double' features 'Sea Siege' on one side, but it is buried somewhere, and needs exhuming to find the other side!!!
I am currently wading through Robert Jordan's 'Wheel of Time' series when I get a free hour or so, but as I am currently writing a novel of my own, I do not get a lot of time....
The collection I have that I would never sell is my collection of GB pre-decimalisation Postage Stamps. Not had a count up or done a valuation in years (**Another project on the back-burner!!**)
TTFN!!

Doc Smith! That brings back memories. I *do* have a book collection, while growing up in Canada my uncle back in the UK sent me two Biggles books every Christmas, complete with my own *ex libris* labels inside the cover. Still have them although they are getting to be a chore carting them around every time I move. I do have my father's stamp collection but it's a sorry thing, mostly canceled stamps torn from letters he sent while in the Navy.
Good luck with the writing, or should I say *break a leg*!
