The Dragonlady~There are no ugly women in the world, only neglected ones! Started conversation Sep 19, 2002
I perhaps forgot to pay attention, but were you a 'Sportscaster' at one time?
I worked as a D.J., commercial writer & voice-over, radio announcer, and newscaster many moons ago. It was before women were generally accepted in such jobs in our province, and although I took every one of my slots to the number one position in 'the books', I was still not readily accepted.
I loved it, though. I've always been somewhat of a spotlight hog.

No, I have been a cameraman for lo these many years. I freelanced for some time and now I am a fulltime *pointer* at a television station. I still get to travel now and then but not as much as I did (Lillehammer, Atlanta, California, London). Now it's usually closer to home, which I don't mind.

Yeah!
Way cool!
My would LOVE to be there! used to live there, and always shows me pictures of his Dad's house. There are some new ones from this summer that I haven't seen yet, too. He loves BC, and eventually wants to retire out there, to become a full-time fisherman.
He is up for a transfer soon, because he has been posted here for 8 1/2 years. Way too long for the brass' liking. I bet he would really enjoy being transfered there! (I know he would.)
We were just talking about the log cabin we want to build the other day. It's going to have no electricity (only a generator supplementing a solar energy system), a big fireplace, a LARGE bathtub with jaccuzzi, and a guest house for the children to stay in - three miles down the road.
Anyway, I'm going to bed now.
Talk to you again sometime!

Oh yeah! By the way....
I get the "cl zoomer" thing now!
It must mean "camera lens zoomer"!
Duh!
If I'm way off, let me know!

That cabin sounds like what John and my sister want to do. He is going to retire next year and we've talked into the wee hours about geothermal heat pumps and water purification. Right now he's in Victoria but he's been all over BC with his postings. Fort St. John, Bella Bella, Queen Charlottes, etc.. I think he wants to live near Nelson where his best friend lives married to my other sister<!>

Hi!
I told about our little conversation about BC, and he was really envious.
He made it out to see his Dad in August, and was going to take me out there in October, but it looks like we won't be able to go. His ex-wife went a little nuts (paranoid/schizophrenia, coupled with depression and delusions.) So, he has to stay in town for the kids' sake.
But, we did have a great long talk about stainless steel appliances in a kitchen rigged for cleaning wild game, and a walk-in cooler to store it in.
Oh, the things we could do with a couple million dollars!
Anyway, gotta go now.
Talk to you again!

John and Lou are into hunting big time, I'm a vegetarian so I'm not likely to try it but it sounds like they would all get along. I'll ask him (John) if he minds getting in touch with you.

That would be great!
I would be glad to hear form him (them). Those policemen are such a special breed, and anyone who lives with a family member who is in law enforcement, sort of has their own way of socializing, so I will not be offended if he would rather not.
I know that my would appreciate knowing other that have the same interests.
Talk to you soon!

Sorry for the delay. I talked to my sister and she said John, her husband wouldn't mind being contacted about places in B.C. to retire (or whatever else). His last name is Farrell and he is stationed in Victoria. Do you need anything else?

It's nice to hear from you, zoomer!
I will give you my tertiary e-mail address, so if you want, you can e-mail me with the particulars.
Do they have e-mail?
is getting a computer in the next couple of weeks, and can use my e-mail until then.
My e-mail is : [email protected]
(Cute, isn't it?)
Anyway, found me a really nest place to live, so we are doing a lot of packing right now. The people I am going to be renting from are into things like straw-bale construction, and solar energy. So, I'll be learning a lot more about that kind of thing.
I hope you are keeping well.

I don't know if they have email or not, I'm having dinner with them on Friday (I'm in Victoria on business). I'll ask then and get back to you on Saturday when I'm home.

Sorry for the delay. they don't have email but they are [Personal details removed by Moderator]. I had dinner with them and they are not adverse to you contacting them. Maybe by email to the station? Their youngest is heading out for his "Grand Tour" before university or the Vancouver Police (he can't decide which). He flys to Miami and then the islands on Wednesday (until his money runs out!).
Drop them a line.

I'll give the information you have been able to give me to . He will have a better idea of how to contact them, since the info you tried to give me was considered to bge editable.
Thanks for the tips.
I hope you are well.
We are getting ready to move in two weeks. The house we are moving to is about one third the size of this one, but will be a lot safer. It will be nice to not get shot at anymore.
We're going to try to be real farmers. There are about 80 sheep there, and they some up to the front door. There are also 72 pigs, a really cute donkey that nips your backside if you don't pay him the attention he wants, chickens, geese, and whatever else the landlord is going to venture into. He gave us two piglets to raise, and in the spring, if the sheep are too crowded in the lambing shed, or if there are some sickly lambs, we might find that we share our entrance way with some brand new baby lambs.
Take care! I hope to talk to you again sometime.
