"Who?", "What?" and "Why?"
Introduction
Whilst pondering the writing of this introduction I have found that it is rather more difficult than I had initially thought. Distilling almost 27 years of experience, emotion, education and ego into a small and inciteful resumé is a challenge. I hope that when you have finished reading this you will not feel cheated or that I have in any way wasted those precious moments of your life.Who am I?
My name isn't Szlater, this is merely a pseudonym I have adopted for my sojourns in cyberspace*. I will not go into the details of my birth, but leave you to accept that because I am sitting here writing this I do infact exist, and that my existence came about in the natural way* some 26 and a bit years ago. It didn't involve wisemen, gifts or a donkey, but I am informed that it was fortold in a prophesy... something about a pit, chains and being unleashed every 2000 years. What do I do?
I am a scientist, or at least I like to think I am. I studied microbiology at university and now work for a hospital conducting clinical research in a field that has absolutely nothing to do with bacteria.Interests
- Technology (I like things that have lights which flash, preferably little green or red ones)
- Science (a general interest in all things scientific, but my main interest is in the biological, pharmaceutical and medical fields)
- Films
- Books (I'll read anything, but I do have an unhealthy interest in novels about spies)
- Alcohol (I haven't devoted much time to this interest recently, but hope to take it up again soon)
- Tobacco (Not so much an interest as an addiction)
- Comedy (I like to laugh and make others laugh*)
Not really an exhaustive list of my interests, for example I left out that I enjoy skiing and occasionally partake in a round of golf, but I think that it does give a little taste of what is "Szlater".
Closing remarks
When I started writing this I thought that penning the introduction was difficult, but now that I'm reaching the end I'm finding that writing the ending is much trickier. I've considered closing on a famous quote, on a joke, and just by saying "thanks for reading my drivel", but I have decided merely to end it panto-style...It's behind you!
