Hello, we are in need of some help!!! We a final year Journalsim students and we have seen your entry on William Thomas Stread and his investigation into the Eliza Armstrong case in the late 1880s. Obviously, we are finding it difficult in contacting Stead (!) so we were wondering if we could pick on your pearls of wisdom as to the investigation and his contribution to Journalism???! This probably has taken you by surprise, but we are in desparate need!! (Has this puilled on your heartstrings enough?? lol!!!)

Hi guys, welcome to h2g2. 
Most of the information about Eliza Armstrong came from a book called "Through the keyhole" ISBN - 1-870000 - 02 - 1 which has a chapter on Stead called "A slap at the Devil" This includes descriptions of Eliza, and Rebecca Jarrett, and extracts from his piece as it was published in the Pall Mall Gazette, and a picture of him in his prison garb.
Other information came from books about Thomas John Barnardo A12254979 and some from stuff about William and Catherine Booth.(An as yet unwritten article).
Probably the best source for what you want is in Roy Hattersley's book - Victorian's uncovered, a Channell 4 programme - don't know if you can find this online.
