Hi - I'm sub-editing your excellent Foo Fighters entry. I've added quite a lot of links - hope you like them - and have tried not to mess too much with the content. It's at A944282 if you fancy checking it out and letting me know what you think.
Just have two questions - first, do you mean "Mintoes" rather than "Mentoes"? Although my guess is that they're called different things in the UK and the US... Second, Mr Bungle left this message at the bottom of A944282: "Foo Fighters was a phrase coined by WW2 Pilots on Bombing runs over Germany...Dam fine entry otherwise..Dave rules." What do you think? Shall I change it or do you reckon he's wrong? I have a vague recollection of having heard a WW2 reference before.
Other than that, reckon it's more or less finished as far as I'm concerned, but it's your opinion that's more valuable if you ask me.
Finally, I'm going to try and get the article linked to from the "Nirvana"(A337015) and "drums"(A516025) articles in the Guide as they both refer to Dave and the Foos.
Cheers,
Number Six

I think it is Mintoes rather than Mentoes.
As for the Foo Fighters name I have to say that I've never heard a reference to WW2. The note comes from UFO research and I always though that it could have related to the figure of "Foo Manchu" in US pulp magazines and comics of the time.
Entry's looking nice as well.

I just tried a quick Google search (Foo Fighters name World War Two) and it came up with quite a lot of stuff, the best being this web page:
http://ufos.about.com/library/weekly/aa101501a.htm
which makes it seem that you are exactly right about the phenomenon, and just have the wrong war!
It also gives a source to the phrase "Where there's Foo, there's Fire" which apparently is a cartoon called Smokey Stover.
Where would you like to go from here?

Well paddle my ass and call me nancy!
I think we need to change the war mentioned and include the reference to the cartoon for the sake of accuracy and clarity!

I've had a quick bash at it - let me know what you think. Nancy.
Seriously, if you're happy with it, I'll send it off to the Editors.
