It's a pretty entertaining thread and I really enjoy using it but I must say it's getting a little frustrating.
Terri got so upset she logged off.

After hours of searching I eventually found The Lets Parlez Franglais conversation thread.
If you look in an English Doctionary you will find alot of English words have a French basis to them, There
are now alot of Fremch words and phrases in the English language now. This is due to various factors, historical via Norman influemce, media business links. TV programmes like Eurotrash a, Jeux san Frontiers/Its a knockout amd the Eurovision contest have done alot to bspread the use of either Franglais or French., industry , through travel and tb programmes such as Jeux sanx Frontiers, Eurotrash and the Eurovision song contest in spreading the usage of Franglais or French amongst Engkish speaking people.
Even though my command of the French language is very poor I could get the general gist of what was being said but then I only quickly scanned over it.

Fact: 50% of English words and phrases are derived from either French/Italian/Latin.
Fact: English words are derived from several languages and not one.

katrine: yep... the issue has been raised a few times when the moderators were still checking every posts on the site... at the time we had a lot of posts waiting moderation but at least we knew why... usually that was happening when the mod on duty didn't understand french... twas fair enough, they had to be thorough...
but now the system is different: for a posting to be awaiting moderation or be moderated it has to be yiked by a researcher...
i will have to re-read the house rules regarding posting foreign words but i do seem to remember the reasons why it was not on to do so... if i'm right then no post on the franglais thread should really be moderated for using french words... it is a question of interpretation of course...
talk later...

katrine...
i will have to look carefully at the house rules wording first tho'... but i'm pretty sure there is something i noticed before that can actually show that the postings in the franglais thread do not break the house rules...
it has to do with the reasons why posting foreign words is discouraged... but i won't say too much right now... i want to make sure i'm right [or at least more than 50% right...]
talk later...
