Tweety Pie

DO you have a minute? smiley - ok This entry will go on for a bit.

I won't continue the Origami Commuting Conversation further - it veered (as these things do) rather off the subject of commuting activities.

Thanks for adding me to your friends list smiley - hug - as I haven't done it before I'm not sure what this will mean. Since I have had similar interests to you (barring the coffee spoons and a few others) it seems likely that your conversations on entries spotted will be enjoyable to me as well (and who knows maybe the reverse too).

I say twice in the subject header, because as you may have guessed from the main entries of the researchers that smiley - chick was born after smiley - stiffdrink was first poured, but both marionettes have the same puppet master. I tend to log in as one at work, the other elsewhere (since I haven't got at the tip of my tongue the work password and username).

Once logged in I tend to read both conversations lists and update accordingly, but as you discovered, it is difficult to make comments without replying with the wrong nickname.

Sorry to concur but I'd agree A levels should have number one priority, and h2g2 be kept as some kind of reward for revision/research goals achieved. Once the milestone of exams is passed successfully you can forget them - the next milestone will be some years off.

It is too easy to pretend to yourself that you are achieving something worthwhile on h2g2, so get the real work out of the way first. I admit I have the same problem at work - I tell people I only surf while having a tea-break. Some of my tea-breaks, by this definition, have lasted most of the day.

You mention an interest in Philosophy - have you read the article in Peer review on Wittgenstein?

Hi Sinister smiley - smiley

I've eventually figured out the necessary bits to register at home and work with the same persona, so smiley - chick can retire to his egg for the moment. You'll note I've also had some fun with my Personal Space introduction.

My link to Philosophy was engendered in my undergraduate degree, of which it was a good portion. I'll confess Wittgenstein didn't grab me then and still doesn't light my fire. My bag, baby, was more the Philosophy of Science, Logic, Ethics and Aesthetics. Since then I've collected a few amusing philosophy books - Sophies World, The Tao of Pooh and so on.

Given that you did a logic test on your visit to Cambridge are you heading for philosophy as part of your potential course?

I won't bore you with too much life history, but be warned you'll have to be quite creative to get a philosophy degree to assist you in getting a job.

I'm a bit frustrated at the moment, because I can't think of another innovative entry to write, and my current peer entry A981911 is drifting rudderless.

I can't tell you much about the history of Pimms No1 cup that I didn't read off the bottle - it has very little to do with me. You could read A832385 - see! already an entry, I can't use my nickname as inspiration.smiley - sadface

What are your hopes and fears?

Thanks for the thumbs up smiley - ok on the Personal Space SC. If you haven't ventured out of simple text input you may find changing your own space to GuideML a rude awakening. It took me some time to rewrite my space. A useful trick if you want to see how someone has created their Entry is to use this format:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/testuserpageXXXXXX
with the XX's replaced by the Entry number, ignoring the letter at the front.

I did write a reply on 'selling' your degree to future employers, but lost it flicking between pages. It was basically looking beyond the subject studied (which they are unlikely to be interested in) to the 'transferable skills' learnt.

Incidentally have you learnt all you need to about bits of cucumber, apple and mint floating in a gin lemonade concoction? Also what is/was the coincidence that caused you to include 'coincidence' as the second part of your nickname?
