Welcome to h2g2, I hope you're having a pleasant time?

Now, I'm Emily, I'm an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) and an Angel (Patron Saint of Lucky Charms) and it's part of my duty to welcome you to the neighbourhood

Now you can reach me via U129266 (this will also tell you about me)

but instead of telling you a bunch of URL's and things here and now and overwhelming you, I'll give you my welcome page which should have some useful links A562303.

I hope that helps and I'll be here whenever you need help with something and the secret to h2g2 is just to have fun There's always someone interesting to talk to.

Dear Sweet Em,

Please forgive me for not responding to you sooner.smiley - blush I only just noticed your entry. I am so new at this I did not know to look so far down on the page. smiley - doh I checked out your page and you are so much like my daughter I may adopt you! I'm so proud of you for your terrific grades. I have already learned much from your help info, thank you so much.

Don't worry about not replying straight away, you'd be amazed how often I don't notice new messages smiley - laugh you kinda have a tendancy to look straight to your posts list and ignore that top bitsmiley - smiley

I shall certainly check out your daughters pagesmiley - smiley

And when using links to user pages all you need to put is their user number when you're in a conversation smiley - smiley Although I can't even remember my own number off by heart let alone my sisters and friends..

I'm very proud of myself for my exam results, I worked really hard and I'm glad it paid offsmiley - smiley

and do you put brackets of some kind around the user number?< >?

I'm not familiar with a Prefect School? Will you go to University next? Do young ladies there live at home with their folks, or generally move out as soon as they turn a certain age? I'm full of questions if it doesn't irritate you too much!smiley - grovel

No brackets, just the number...h2g2's a clever placesmiley - winkeye

I'm just at a normal mix high school, I'm a prefect during this my 6th year, which means I get a little more responsibilty and trust from the staff.

I don't know about uni next year, I may take a gap year because currently I'm uncertain about what I want to do with my life, or I may go for a Modern Apprentiship, but I've got a year to think about it and a lot to talk about with my teachers.

Personally I'd really like to get out of my home town and into the big bad world, but with uni and the fact that being the middle child my four years of uni would cross over two of each of my sisters, it would cost too much to go away, but if it's my only option I won't discount it.

And don't worry about asking questions, one of my favourite words has always been "Why"smiley - smiley

I am dragging my feet on going to hmtl school , but I will click over right after this reply...My older daughter (20) left home 2 years ago and now it is my younger(about to turn 18)leaving, she is only moving 25 miles away but I will miss her...on the bright side, I'll definately have more time on the computer! I, myself, could not wait to be out on my own...though I did move back in with my mom a few times before I got married. Are you dreaming of how you will furnish a place in your own style? Or don't care and just want out?

I just want to get away, I love my family...I just want to have my own space I guess, I don't really understand why I want to get away.

I just read your nidgering link...very interesting.First, what exactly does the word mean? Secondly, my husband's family has always believed they were from Scotland. Supposedly three brothers came across the pond and from them all other McKinneys here were spawned...is McKinney a Scottish name? Or smiley - wah Irish? If it is Irish I shall not tell my hubby as he may have to do away with himself!smiley - sadfacesmiley - winkeye

Nidering is like nagging, you know the constant "are you gonna do it, are you gonna do it, are you gonna do it" kinda naggingsmiley - smiley

I don't know whether McKinney is a Scottish name...wouldn't be hard to find out, my surname isn't a direct Scottish Clan but part of the Stewart clan...so it would be perfectly likely it's SCottishsmiley - smiley Sahll have a look and see if I can find out for you thoughsmiley - winkeye

Thanks Em. I'm going to an appreciation dinner tonite. We did a couple of free concerts for a summer series in the park. You don't get paid, but you can sell your tapes. The ladies get a bouquet of flowers and the men a commemorative coin. Last nite was the last one. My husband and I got up in protest, that the guys only got a coin, and presented the two men with giant zuccinnis(from our garden) wrapped like bouquets with a bow. It got a great laugh!smiley - biggrin

A very large green squash, especially when left to grow much too long! It was about the length of your forearm ( if your forearm is a foot and a half to two feet long...-ok bad comparison) and probably 6 inches wide. I'm afraid it had rather phallic overtones...smiley - yikes

I am slightly appalled you nothing of Zuccinni. However, I'm counting on it being you live somewhat north of me, and not that you don't eat your veggies! It was a great evening...we wowed 'em with our funny stuff, and there was waay too much food at the pot luck. smiley - blush
