TEN DAYS TO GO!
kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Started conversation Jul 27, 2005
Well, it is almost that time! When do you head over to Iceland? I will think of you on the day and hope that your are as heart-poppingly happy as I am
Hope you aren't having any last minute panics - my hairdresser has disappeared slightly and I am hoping she is just on holiday this week. If I haven't heard from her in the next day or so I'll be panicing and trying to find a new one...
Other than that everything is calm - am watching the weather forecast like a hawk and hoping that summer will make a reappearance in time - let us pray together to the weather gods for a fine day in our respective locations. Altogether now: OOOOHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMM

TEN DAYS TO GO!
ismarah - fuelled by M&Ms Posted Jul 27, 2005
Hello there!
I am strangely calm. I have stress-induced IBS normally, but so far, I'm calm as a brick, not so much as comatose.
It's been easy for me actually. I managed to get fired at work (got yelled at for trying to steal someone's job. I wasn't, cause I wasn't qualified and knew it and that person was nice. So then I got fired for upsetting the team )
So since then I've been running errands and doing things and it's all coming together.
I'm off to Iceland on Monday and then DT follows on the Wednesday.
Strangely, despite the vicar situation, everything seems fine. Even the DJ is excited. We're just sorting the paper work that we need to sort and then we're good to go.
My main worry is that the IBS will kick in _just_ before. Or that my dress won't fit.
I'm rambling.
I'll come back later and try and make some more sense...
cheers ismarah

You are making plenty of sense, don't worry
I hope the IBS doesn't make a problem for you, I am sure it will be fine as you seem o have everything in hand
Other than the hairdresser, my biggest worry is that I'll get a coldsore in the next week or so. I'm prone to them when run down or stressed or ill and I've been feeling under the weather for the last few days. Am currently covering myself in zovirax regularly just in case an attack rears its ugly head - last thing I want in the photos is a big scab on my face
I just want it to be the day now! Enough with the waiting already!

TEN DAYS TO GO!
ismarah - fuelled by M&Ms Posted Jul 28, 2005
Crikey!
Have been having one of those 'interesting' morning, similar to my birthday...
I called up the sheriff's office to confirm that they had received all six pages of my fax to them with our wedding licence paperwork.
Firstly, she told me that I had filled it in wrong and that my best man needed to give his own signature, me writing his name down wasn't correct. I pointed out to her that my dad is currently in Iceland and I'm in the UK. She said ok, I'll just send you a new form.
Bearing in mind that I'd asked for a copy of my birth certificate from Iceland and got it two weeks later and that I am going over there on Monday and that when I did get the birth certificate, my name was wrong, I told her that that wouldn't really work for a wedding that is taking place on the 6th, and that we'd fix it with my dad in person on Tuesday.
She then said oh, and you're missing the certificate of no impediments from the UK. My response to that was I need a whadda? and why am I being told that _now_ rather than in any of the 5 previous phonecalls I have made to them since Easter? But also said, I'll check. Apparently you get those from the registry office.
So I called the registry office and asked if they could help. They were very sweet and very helpful and very firm on needing 21 days to issue one, so no can do. However, they did suggest us checking with Iceland and then if they ok'd it we could use a notary public to publicly declare ourselves free to wed.
So I checked with Iceland and they said ok. They also said ok to me bringing all the paperwork on Tuesday as they need the originals as well as the fax copies. So then I needed to find a notary public, to whom our solicitor kindly directed us and we have an appointment there at 3 today.
So now I just need to get all my Icelandic documents reissued on Tuesday and then bring those along with everything else to the authorities and then we're rolling.
It's been an interesting couple of hours. Lots of phonecalls.
Suddenly my calm is somewhat shattered and I think I've not done nearly enough to get ready. No seating arrangements, no guest favours wrapped up and I still haven't grouted the kitchen.
So now I'm a little bit stressed. However, I did go shopping yesterday for thank-yous. Had a lovely time with my MIL in Pier.
Like your new nickname better btw.
Oh, and NINE DAYS TO GO!
cheers ismarah

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Jul 28, 2005
Oh my god what a pain! I'm glad that there is a way to get it sorted out though - I remember a thread on the confetti website where the bride hadn't realised that she had to give notice of her civil ceremony to get the certificate that you need and only realised two days before. Never did find out what happened to her, but I suspect she wouldn't have been able to have the wedding
Just take a deep breath and all will be right again.
Had my final fitting just now, I looked great and his waistcoat came into the shop today so we can get that on saturday. All coming together now, just have to finish the table plan (90% done, just have to glue on the paper roses) and buy a present for the MIL. Not too stressed about that as I doubt she'll like anything we get her so there is no way I can win
Sending you calming thoughts...

ismarah - fuelled by M&Ms Posted Jul 28, 2005
Right, I've been looking in probably all the wrong places for cake toppers, the nice stuff. Problem I have is I don't want to buy a nice and personalised one on eBay for £40, but I do want a nice one.
So are there any shops around that just sell the cake toppers? Not the cake, cause it'd never get through customs...
Basically, I'll either find one this weekend, or we'll use live flowers on top.
cheers ismarah

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Jul 28, 2005
I didn't have to think about cake toppers thank goodnes - the cake we've got has a feathery bit as part of the design so I can't help you. Picture of it here:

Have you looked in bakery shops that do wedding cakes? They might have ones you can buy. What sort of thing are you after?
Got everything sorted with the notary?
Help!
ismarah - fuelled by M&Ms Posted Jul 28, 2005
Heh! The your cake looks so posh and frothy, it looks more feathered than edible! Of course, I'm assuming that it's delicious as well
Notary is sorted, we just need to pick up the documents tomorrow and then we're good to go.
I've tried asking the bakeries around here, but they're not very posh ones and they don't do wedding cakes. So they haven't had any accessories, so to speak.
I like the confetti ones, as they're a little bit more human, less shiny plastic, as well as having a sense of humour, but their express delivery is a mere £75.00.

Apart from the feathers on the very top the whole thing is edible - the frothy bits are rice paper. Going by the samples we tasted it should all taste wonderful
Have you got a John Lewis/Debenhams/other department store near you? They might be able to help - I agree that £75 is slightly extortionate!
Am wracking my brain to see if I can think of another supplier - have you looked in the yellow pages for wedding cake makers/decorators in your area?
Help!
ismarah - fuelled by M&Ms Posted Jul 28, 2005
I think I assumed that cake makers/places wouldn't want to sell the top if we didn't also buy the cake?
Hadn't thought of Debenhams or John Lewis, to be honest. Might have a quick scoot in Reading on Saturday then...
To be honest, I really think we're just going to end up with red gerberas. Which is fine. Seriously. Just thought I'd check the other stuff first.
Am getting somewhat excited again now. As well as stressed.
hmmmmm
now I also want cake
cheers ismarah
ps. I'm all out of me own special 'calm the fook down bridezilla pills' so it might get a little rough around here...
DT's being very loving. Does your chap do that?

Depends how manic I'm being - if I am really bad he goes and hides
I don't know if JL/Debs etc do sell them, but they sell everything else so they might! I reckon it is worth ringing the cake makers anyway just in case, can't hurt if they say no because your plan B of having the gerberas there would be lovely anyway

Well, DT and I both agree that I've lost weight. Hard to tell without a decent set of scales, but we agree...
We got our papers today and are now legally allowed to marry in Iceland.
I had a manicure, a pedicure, a facial and an eyebrow shape today so I'm almost ready for the wedding from a beauty standpoint. Just need a fake tan while in Iceland to cover my white squares from where I was out in the sun with the bandages after the surgery.
IBS is mildly kicking in, but I'm too clever for it, I have pills! Drugs! Woohoo! Well, antacids anyway.
And since neither of us mentioned it - EIGHT DAYS TO GO
Will you be working next week? Or taking the time off?
cheers ismarah

One week!
I'll be "working" until thursday although can't make any promises for my productivity
vibes for your innards and well done for losing weight
I was 11'10 this morning so making tiny amounts of progress mainly by not eating *sigh* Had dreamed of being 10'10 by the wedding but never mind. I'm sure we both look knockout in our respective dresses
Good luck on the topper hunt today

ismarah - fuelled by M&Ms Posted Jul 30, 2005
You're down from 18'7 to 11'10? Bloody fantastic!!!
Never mind about the last bit for now, you'll get there, I'm sure.
I know I'll lose some on honeymoon as it's in Florida. I'll be exercising more than I am at the moment and I tend to have a smaller appetite than usual when I'm hot. So the plan is to come back all smooth, tan and skinny. Well, down to 12 something.
Re wedding dress appearance, I do worry a tiny little bit sometimes. I worry my dress is marengue-like in its proportions, that I will fall over the train or that it simply won't fit on the day.
Will have to do my packing on Monday and errands today and housey stuff tomorrow. Decided not to worry about the cake topper things, gerberas will be more us.
My nailvarnish after my manicure lasted until last night, then it started peeling off. DT was very sorry for me, I was kind of pissed off. But then again, it was probably too long in advance and would never have lasted until the wedding. So I'll probably just to a coat of varnish myself on the Friday.
DT started wondering if you were someone he'd met in RL. He's not sure, but you've both been hootooers for a long time, although he's now inactive. May well have.
I noticed also that you've got hootooers responding to wedding invites on your PS - that is so cool!
Right, off to postoffice now
cheers ismarah

Thanks! And the same to both of you, lovely people.
I might be online a little bit, so I'll post if I can.
Other than that, I'll toast you sometime in my early morning prep seeing as how I'm not going to be driving
Now, I'm off to pack for myself (again) and for DT (first go)
I'm convinced I'm forgetting the whole world in there...
cheers ismarah

Hiya Ismarah - if I don't get the chance to be online again over the weekend, I thought I'd pop in and say Happy First Anniversay for sunday
I hope you and Dancing Tree are enjoying married life (and the new member of your family!) and have something nice planned for sunday
