smiley - laugh I'd not mind living on any of them - just I'd have to be working, not studying.

damn money thing. Sooooo annoying.

I'm using my husbands computer, network, food, petrol, car etc. As long as I never want to buy anything at any time in the next 3 1/2 years.

ah well.

smiley - laugh Exactly. I have two part-time jobs now, any more, and I won't have time for actual studying! smiley - doh (Or worse, no time for hootoo!)

What's it like to study architecture?

Whoops...

Post 25

Malabarista - now with added pony

Exhausting. smiley - laugh The trouble is that most of our projects are design things where you're never really "finished", just have to present it at some point. There's always something left to be done. All-nighters are common. And according to one study, we have the worst social life, even before medical students. smiley - rofl

Other than that, though, it's great smiley - whistle

Hey - how are you?

Did you decide where to next? I know you're moving in with your sister for the time being, but did you ever find a school, a program, fees and a place that was perfect for you, all in one?

Oh, sorry, ismarah, didn't mean to ignore you. I'm just very busy with a paper...

I've moved back in with my mother for the moment smiley - laugh I have yet to write my thesis and do an internship...

My sister is marrying next weekend, and then I'm off to a UK&Ireland trip, after which I'll seriously get down to the business of looking at schools.

I just wish I knew *what* I want to do. Also been considering something like computer game design - designing the environments, not the game engines. smiley - silly

No worries - how is the paper going?

Gaming architecture sounds smiley - cool if a little complex and probably under-appreciated!
There's some cool stuff going on in that field, that's for sure.

Travelling sound great, especially after completing all that work. Currently, all I'm thinking about my longed for diploma in May is that it's something I have to get through to get to my holiday, which isn't really how I want it to be, but hey ho...

Congrats on your sister's marriage - and be safe in the UK when you come here.

Ooooh, bravo! You'll be going on holiday with your diploma in your pocket!

I've got one paper done and not even started the other smiley - laugh

And yesterday I had my interview for the BA course and and and got an unconditional offer! Woohoo, to say the least.

Out of my group and of the ones that have applied to stay on at the school I'm in now, I'm the only one I know of who was asked to interview, everyone else just got a letter through for a conditional offer. The condition is usually a minimum grade for something but for us foreigns it can also be a language test, like TOEFL or IELTS with a minimum grade, but I had NOTHING!

Am very happy about this and OH and I went out for a huge dinner yesterday to celebrate. Today, I'm going to the hardware store to see if I can find a wood-print wallpaper that I can make a lamp out of. It's so crazy like a fox it just might work...

Ho ho holidaaaayyyy

smiley - wow That's really great! Well done! smiley - somersaultsmiley - bubbly

If you want to make a lampshade, try wood veneer - might be slightly more expensive, but you can buy it in sheets and work it almost like paper. It will look nicer than wood print, especially with light shining through it smiley - smiley

Yeah, the wood veneer is where I started. But I don't know what I've been doing wrong, every time I steam it, if the piece is larger than say 12x12 cm, especially if it is a long piece, they crack, lengthways. It's been very frustrating to say the least.

Our deadline is like the 8th of May or so and I'm not sure I'll be able to bend enough veneer successfully to make it work. I'd be happy to have someone make it for me and that would be allowed, but I just don't know anyone suitable. I'd be fine in Iceland, but not here.

Speaking of flexible wood veneer - take a look at this stuff: http://www.onlyone-pro.com/tennage/

Although i've sort of got other things going on again - seeing a (german of all things smiley - huh) surgeon on Monday. Always something, innit.

Hmmmm - two things spring to mind - scoring the back with a carpet knife, or bending it between two sheets of flexible material. How tight is the curve?

(*insert obligatory Frankenstein joke here*) Hopefully nothing too bad? I have to go see the smiley - doctor on Monday, too, and mine's also German, what a coincidence! smiley - silly

It's sooo thing, like 0.5 mm that I'm not sure scoring won't just go through. It's not a curve so much as a bend and it's just not playing ball. I'll keep trying though. A prototype out of paper was always Plan B though, just in case.

Surgeon is for my blob removal so all good stuff. 'Blob' is the technical term the specialist used to describe it, honest. I like it, it makes it sound friendly, way more so than 'tumour' does.

Your German smiley - doctor makes more sense than mine does, I will say. Maybe there should be an exchange program?

Good luck with both. Especially the "blob" - still sounds spooky, no matter what they call it! smiley - ghost

I hope it went well. smiley - smiley
