Hiya!

Received the parcel with the Easter eggs in it. Thank you SO much! smiley - hug

They were delicious (we each had one for dessert, K and I. Mine had toffee bits and licorice chews and his had red and yellow hard candies)

Care to do a bit of translation? smiley - winkeye

"Engin rós er án pyrna"

and

"Illt er peim sem ólund ber"

Thanks again, so very much. What a special gift. We loved them, and I'm going to keep the outer cardboard packet because I've never gotten anything from Iceland before.

I really appreciate this.

Anything you'd like, from the States in general or my personal collection specifically?

Yippee!

Engin rós án þyrna means No rose without thorns, literally translated.

Illt er þeim sem ólund ber translates as Hurts he who spreads unhappiness.

I'm glad you liked them after everything.

I'll think of something suitable smiley - evilgrin

Thanks for the translation. We liked those- much more realistic than some of the sappy sentiments we get in fortune cookies. smiley - winkeye

I liked the little licorice bits very much. I'm really fond of licorice, and hard candies are harder to find than the candy rope thingies.

Plus it's not often I get something from someplace as exotic as Iceland. Too bad I can't find that one film you suggested, "Sodoma Rejkyavik". I've been looking for it forever...

you can get icelandic licorice, including the toffee things on www.nammi.is, which if you're a good girl and continue to get bonuses you'll be able to afford their postage... it's a bit eeek.

The film isn't that great to be honest, but it is very icelandic and amusing. I remember you said you saw Noi Albinoi, which is interesting. It takes place / is filmed in a place called Husavik and I went to college in Akureyri, which is the nearest town over.

There's another one called Astropia which might be easier to find as it is newer.

I on the other hand just watched 'Chuck' the episode where the icelandic assassin / spy is after them with a crossbow. Nice!

I'll look out for Astropia then- thanks for the suggestion.

I'll also peek at that candy web site. While I can't ever count on being a good girl, I can occasionally bring myself to justify a special treat. There was a German place my sweetie wanted something from that charged some pretty Eeek postage too. We didn't get whatever it was.

I really enjoyed Noi Albinoi. Sure, it didn't have a lot of action, but the characters were SO wonderfully developed, and I really imagined I got the "feel" of the movie. If that makes sense.

Not to mention that I don't think I have ever seen that much snow all at once...
