Jonas Quinn - Stargate SG-1

Sho - employed again!

I saw your post in the 2legs thread - but I'm staying out of Ask for a while, but since i can talk about Stargate until the cows come home here I am.

I liked Jonas, he was an interesting character and I think he was hard done to when Michael Shanks decided he liked being Daniel Jackson after all.

Back in the day I preferred Daniel, although I liked Jonas a lot more than most of the online fandom was (I was very involved in the SG1 online stuff) but now I'm older and have been rewatching seasons 1-4 of SG-1 I prefer Jack O'Neill.

And I have come to appreciate Teal'c a lot more. And I totally adore Sam. But her father gets up my nose.

I thought it would be have nice to have kept Jonas on the SG1 team although I do prefer Daniel as he is more experienced and has amazing diplomatic skills and is a great at helping me to reconcile their differences and giving suggestions to help both sides without anyone having to lose face.

I think Jack O'Neill is a great morale boaster when people are feeling down and great at bringing humour to lighten up a frightening situation and never is intimidated in the presence of over-dressed (remind me of pantomime villains) Goa'uld pompous twits. I like the fact that he is such a down to earth character who sadly has never visited the Isle of Barra in Scotland which is the base of the O'Neill clan.

Teal'c may be a quiet and strong character who is more of a thinker than a talker although he can become very passionate about leading the rebel Jaffa with the help of Master Bra'tac.

Sam Carter gives balance to the team especially between Jack and Daniel as she can see both points of views and has grown in her role. It was very sad when her Tok'ra symbiote Jolinar of Malkshur and that she had time to get to know her symbiote and that she would remain a member of SG1, It is strange that in Stargate the symbiote speaks as a separate entity while in Star Trek TNG and DS9 the Trill symbiote is completely blended into the person's character and personality and their is not the 'split personality' but speaks as one person.

that's one of the great things about sci-fi - each one has its own take on things.

Sometimes on Stargate they seem to get confused about when the Tok'ra have to be speaking with the symbiote voice or not, but it's not too bad.

My favourite eps all seem to have Maybourne in them smiley - smiley

I too find that when the Tok'ra host or symbiote have to speak and I wonder if they got the idea of a symbiote from Star Trek Trill symbiote.

I think that Mayborne's weakness is that the gets involved in the wrong crowd but at least in the end he does the right thing. I also like watching episodes when he is in them.smiley - oksmiley - cool

I do think that Senator Kinsley is a power hungry politician who has his priorities all wrong and his actions along with his allies are doing more to endanger the safety the planet with their short sightedness.

ah I think the human/symbiote is a staple of sci-fi - I've certainly seen it in several things, and read it in several books.

Kinsey is a bit one dimensional, but always fun to have around.

One character I really couldn't stand (and then couldn't stand her in Atlantis either) was Elizabeth Weir - either actress of the character.

So - which is your favourite episode?

My favourite episode (which I find the funniest) the "Window of Opportunity" one.

I also enjoyed watching 'The Other Side' too. I have not been a big fan of the Atlantis series and I have only watched a few episodes before I started to lose interest.

I do admit had a soft spot for Ronon Dex. Since I got my freeview digital box, I have not been able to keep up with the Atlantis series.
