Welcome from another newbie, I found your entry interesting and evocative - I can almost smell the potato baking!
When you mentioned Southern Right Whales I thought "They're extinct aren't they?" so I looked them up in Encarta and found that they were only hunted to the brink of extinction! So I'm glad to see they are recovering - hope you see some.
(couldn't find a Right Whale so used a fish(Looking Right)

I'll let you know how I go.
The sea around here is also supposed to be populated by Great Whites (and the largest one on record was caught just off Phillip Island, which is a couple of hours drive from Melbourne, by some blood thirsty bounty hunter trying to "save" swimmers who stupidly pick shark infested waters to go swimming in). I love sharks and secretly wish I hadn't been so much of a book worm throughout my education (have a degree in American Studies and History) and had studied marine biology instead so I could go out for months on end diving with the big fish all in the name of research.
