Hello and welcome to h2g2
I am one of the site's Aces and it is my job to meet and greet new researchers and make sure that they are ok and can find their way around the site.
A page well worth looking at is the <./>Welcome</.> page. Here you can find out some general information about the guide and links to help pages.
May I also suggest visiting the <./>GuideML-Clinic</.>. GuideML is the computer language that h2g2 uses, and this page will help you to fill your user space with all sorts of neat stuff
If you are wondering how to make the smiley pictures like then click on <./>Smiley</.> which will take you a page which shows all the smileys.
If you are feeling a bit lost then clicking on <./>Dont Panic</.> will take you to the help pages, or feel free to ask me by clicking on the reply button below, and I will do as much as I can to help
Hope that answers any querys you have for the moment.
Tonto

Hi Tonto,
Thanks for the almost immediate computer generated reply. I'm impressed by your swiftness.
I feel I must first offer an apology, as if you are indeed my ace, you are to be plagued by constant messaging requesting hand-holding in this freaky cyber universe I appear to have wandered into. If at any point I get too much for you, please fell free to tell me to whatever you like off and leave you alone.
I guess my first and most pressing question is: where to begin constructing an entry. As an ex-pat resident of Hanoi the sheer wealth of subjects I could approach is mind-boggling, from the tribulations of being involved with a Vietnamese woman, to the rules and regulations of Hanoi's traffic system (a very simple piece, there aren't any), a run down of the best bars in Hanoi, the sheer joy of having the easiest job in the world, or, is that really Ho Chi Minh's corpse in there? And that's not even starting to think about the sensible ones.
Guidance my friend, I need guidance. What do you think people might like to know?
I'll have a good think about this tonight, but for now, any thoughts you may have would be gratefully received.
Thanks for your help,
Tal.

Computer generated response<?> Well, I like to make sure that I don't miss out or forget anything
As for nagging me for help. That is no problem what-so-ever, after all, that is what I'm here for.
Right, now for guide entries. Quite frankly, every topic that you have suggested would be appropriate for the guide and indeed they sound very interesting. There is no reason to stick to sensible entries although they have just as much a place in the guide. Ultimately, you are probably better off writing about whatever you are most interested in or know most about but it may be worth staying clear of duplicating existing entries because duplicates will not make it into the edited guide. The way to find out if there is already a similar entry is to do a search using the feature at the top of this page.
Hope that is some sort of help
What do you think you will start on<?>
