h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

my first impression, given the condition of your personal page and lack of messages, was that you were a newcomer to h2g2; however, i see that you have actually been a member for a great deal longer than i have. welcome back to h2g2

i have the tendency of popping over to new musicians' guild members' personal pages to see what they're up to. i see that you've written a couple of articles. now, being the tremendously nosy parker that i am, i have the abominable tendency to goad writers into submitting their articles to pr, so...

i was quite interested in your community hack and choral group articles - although concise, they contained quite a lot of interesting little nuggets of information. my point is - have you ever thought about writing for the edited guide? the thing i find quite often (and this is really very sad) is that a large number of h2g2 members pour a great deal of effort into writing very interesting and informative articles, most of which never make it out of their personal spaces - when many of these articles could be polished up a bit, sent for review, and eventually make it on the front page and the eg.

it's just a thought, but - maybe you'd one day consider trying to make the guide?

thanks for the welcome back - I've been wanting to become more involved with the guide for some time now, finally bitten the bullet so to speak and hope to continue with vigour.

As to the edited guide - sounds like a great idea - must admit that I hadn't recalled/read the informatin about this so I'm just working through the doc's now and will probably submit my articles into the system in due course.

the house rules in a nutshell:

1. no 'i' pronouns, ie. article should be written from third-person point of view
2. balanced discussion, no biased rantings (you'd be surprised...)
3. no strong expletives, especially since there are those with more delicate constitutions around (i usually find this *really* hard to avoid )
4. no links to commercial sites
5. quoting other people is fine as long as you credit them

you know, there's nothing wrong with submitting the original article for pr... um, what i meant to say is that you don't have to have two separate articles for keeping and for sending. what happens is that after your article gets picked, they make a copy of your original. you get to keep the original (which will not be touched), and corrections will only be made to the copy - which is the one that will be published.

whoops, sorry. you mentioned a 'seed article' in your pr posting for 'community hack', which i took to mean an original article; however, i've gone to have a proper look, and have found that it actually refers to your article about aicsa.
