Hi. Welcome to h2g2. I am one of the many official Aces here and it is my job to see you get around the site ok. I see you haven`t yet given yourself a proper name. To do so, just click on the preferences button at the right hand side (or top) of your screen.
You will find a page of useful links at A719840 and ways to spice up your space at A690518.
Have fun here and if you have any questions, feel free to ask
Thanks...

Thanks for the warm welcome. Forgot to push the "Update Details" button after giving myself a name and just left the page...oops.
You'll find that I am moderately distinguishable from the rest of the mad hordes now. If only the (Canadian) government would see fit to bestow upon me a similar opportunity...?
Thanks...

Hey...the majority of you are on, what, Greenwich mean time?
I'm on EST so I'm not sure what the best time is to interface with people. 7 am EST seemed to be good...I guess that places all of you about noonish or so, assuming GMT, is that about right?
Thanks...

It doesn`t really matter when you post. There will always be someone on-line
So a Canadian, an American and a Scottish gal.....surely there`s a joke in here somewhere.
Thanks...
plato <surfer> Posted Jul 3, 2002
Well there's the "who's driving the car" joke... but I'm not an Americanby blood, i just live here...
Thanks...

I'm Canadian, born and raised. Two generations on my father's side and at least 4 (probably more) on my mother's side.
I keep wanting to write an article. I was going to write about CANDU reactors, but since I work for the company I decided it would be a possible breach of security and decided to leave it to someone else.
That and it would be boring.
Any ideas?
Thanks...

I heard that in certain parts of canada you can throw a pan of water into the air and it'll come back down as ice... I suppose visiting Alaska would be fun, if it's anything like it is in 'Canadian Bacon'...
Thanks...

great movie starring John Candy... it's from the early nineties i think... Basically a few cops from a state on the canadian border(i can't remember which) declare war on canada because they think it's taken a fellow cop prisoner... immediately all of America is boycotting all things Canadian, arming themselves against the Canadian menace... it's really hilarious at one point John Candy and his cop friends drive through Canada in a big truck with things like 'Down With Canada' and 'Canada Sucks' written on the sides... they get pulled over
Cop: Now tell me sir, what's wrong with this picture?
Candy: Now, officer, I can explain...
Cop: It has to be written in English AND French
so Candy then writes these obscenities in French too... brilliant
I greatly encourage the viewing of this film.
Thanks...

I must look out for it. It`ll probably be hard to find now though.
Thanks...
Typherzero Posted Jul 8, 2002
Yeah...every Canadian has seen that one at least a few times...
To answer your much, much earlier question, I'm from Ontario, Mississauga, specifically. Thankfully, not Toronto right now, as the city workers strike has left it reeking of garbage.
I was at the cottage up north (near Peterborough) the last couple days...just managed to log in agian today.
Thanks...

Well we're glad to have you back!
I think i heard somewhere that Canadian Bacon was John Candy's last movie... is that true?
