Who is Albrecht's Muse?
I/The Tree
I am a craggy tree, whose knotted branches/stretch out into infinity./Whose ripe green leaves flirt in spring winds/with suicidal flight, and veiled by darkness/whisper sensual stories into the night. ((c) Albrecht's Muse)
Welcome to my space. Somewhere for me to muse about what interests me and discover other cyber readers, writers and opinionators along the way. Count Albrect (Rutger Hauer) is the character in a movie by British Director Ben Hopkins called "Simon Magus" Film Review. I was wooed by the Count in my dreams and am now his muse! Well, we have all got to enjoy a little fantasy sometimes - but he is a man of books and a beautiful library. A man of gentle literary notions. An egalitarian and romantic. Oooh nice! Rutger Hauer's Official Website and Charity Foundation (Check out SoapBox Poets for one of my poems from the '80s). So that tells you about him, but what about me, well I love my library, I write a little and have had some things on the web including short stories, poems and book reviews. Books and writing are like air to me, and I love discussing them. Exploring life through the written word gives us an eye into many worlds and perceptions. It is a liberation. I look forward to meetings of like minds! Albrect's Muse
SOME OTHER FAVOURITE THINGS
THE WORD: From Cornflakes boxes to Dante; Stephen King to Alice Walker; AS Byatt, Raymond Carver, F Scott Fitzgerald (The Great Gatsby is one of my all time favourite novels for its christaline prose) via anyone you want!
WILD THINGS: Nature, the environment, landscapes and spiritual connections with every molecule and cell.
THEATRE: There is nothing more energising than touching the fizz of a good live performance. Among my favourite playwrights are Tennessee Williams, Carol Churchill, Timberlake Wertenbaker, Sam Shepard, David Hare, Howard Barker, and Lanford Wilson who wrote the powerful "Burn This" which drew a powerful performance from actor John Malkovitch.
THE MOVIES: The good, the great, the one's that suck. Creativity on a tightrope can chill, thrill, inspire! Too many but here are my six of the best: Ridley Scott’s cult classic Blade Runner; Dirk Bogarde and Bjorn Andresen in Luchino Visconti’s Death in Venice; Wim Wenders magical Wings of Desire; the memorable and evocative Double Life of Veronique; Mr Depardieu as the gentle giant Jean de Florette, plagued by his grasping nephew, played by Daniel Auteuil;and Farenheit 451 based on a novel by Ray Bradbury and staring Oskar Werner and Julie Christie.
THINGS DUTCH: Rutger Hauer (see above!); Vincent Van Gogh VVG Museum – Amsterdam; Vermeer; Tulips; Amsterdam; Dyzack Musician Dyzack's Official Website; sweet friends!
ART hi-and-lo: Paintings with soul and spirit: Emile Nolde, Odillon Redon, Lucian Freud, John Nash, the wonderful desert paintings of Georgia O'Keefe, the surrealism of Leanora Carrington, and the extraordinary Frida Kahlo to name but a very few.
