..noticed your proximity to Southampton in nyssa's advice whilst in england askh2g2 thread - you mentioned driving past the new forest.
Where are you / what do you do?
(*doth be a student at southampton, for his sins*)

*grins*.. yes, quite. I even tried to look you up on the internal telephone book, but didn't get anything conclusive.
If you look hard enough, I'm sure that you can work out who I am, though.

You mentioned something about a shipping company, but I didn't remember to grab the leaflet off you when I was in Southampton - I was wondering if you had any recommendations as to shipping so that I can start working out how much it's going to cost me -

I checked last week and one of our helpful cleaners has chucked out all the leaflets and I can't for life of me remember the company name...the bloke who brought them in was greek though

You could always scan them all in and email them over
I'll keep my eye open for anything similar though

.. it's a pity I don't have a scanner, really.
I assembled yesterday all of the books that I couldn't *possibly* live without (including the compact oed and about seven philosophy tomes which are a minimum of three inches thick and hardbacked; one of them's bigger than my oed). They take up a whole bookcase (and therefore a sizable suitcase or crate.

In that case post all of your clothes over before you travel...get one of those vacuum pack things and send the lot...and use your luggage allowance on the flight for books...at least you'll have something to read on the plane
Have you thought about selling a bunch of stuff?...there is always a demand for average tv's bikes mobile phones etc etc and it would give you some cash to replace the bigger things once you get over there... http://www.soton.ac.uk/~smallads/ads/ is always a favourite.

My bike's still down at montefiore, actually.. I don't know that I can even be bothered to go and get it. .. but if you want a mountain bike that's a few years old, I'll tell you what it is and what the code is and you can filch it or sel it as the need grabs you.

Oh and for yours and nyssas showing on the "something in common" thread...I stumbled across it last night and was amazed that it had got so far.
