Pleidean
H2G2, It's me. Pleidean. I certainly don't want to be known as that Researcher 196436 woman ...
I currently, and only materially, live in NY ... the economically depressed upper part of the STATE, not the CITY. Have lived and worked many other places in the US, which brands me "gypsy" by the home folks and "well rounded" by the real people. [I believe the British call it "a person of no fixed address" ... or, is that Brit for "vagrant" ??? Rats. Can't remember.]
Came late to Douglas Adams. Picked up my first copies in the late 1980s in an obscure public library. Fell hard. And felt gut-punched at a friend's email in June 2001 that DNA was gone.
HOW I GOT HERE ... I was "re-directed" by an article in US Time magazine [from Sept 2000] on how content feeds to handheld wireless devices were making the hitchhiker's guide a "hands-on" reality. The wireless initiative is, ALAS, stalled. Apparently by wireless distribution regulations sitting on the BBC.
MY FIRST ENTRY ... Is a Thank You to the Aces and GURU's and others who are architecting this site. The whole idea of "self-organising content" -- as Douglas Adams put it so Britishly (in spelling) in his Welcome letter -- is an awesome concept. But, we all know, websites and auto-dated postings and conversation threads do not really organise [sic] themselves. So, thanx Aces & GURUs.
This is the best tribute to Douglas Adams: an over-flowing, chaotic, random guide to everything.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
