write a list of 5 positive things
about yourselves e.g I have friends on H2G2, I am good at ?
Pin it somewhere you will see it everyday...on the fridge perhaps.
then add things to the list as the year goes on...whenever you feel down or don't like yourself...look at the list...you are a good person and people like you
You can also write down any bad messages people have given you over the years e.g I am dyslexic and I was told I was stupid. Then on New Years eve gather the bad messages together and either tear them to shreds or burn them and say to yourself" This is the start of the new year and the new me..I don't need these any more, I approve of myself"

wishful thinking...I am a middle aged large lady who is a psychologist...but I have also suffered from depression most of life...so I know how difficult life can be.

I agree...they even have a laughter therapy place in London...I was too unruly 
...but then I find a lot of things funny that other people don't....

I don't know if it's any consolation but you do learn to cope better with times when you are feeling down as you get older...You sort of learn to go with it and know you will come out of the other side... i could be on line Oprah!
