Nutty Skin's Welcome Mat
Come in, wipe your feet, leave your bike outside with your prejudices. Bring in a questing mind, or interesting ideas, or questions, or answers; although, I've found answers to be a bit like Newton Wamphrey, that is, far more interesting to journey towards than actually arrive at. (Sorry, Newton Wamphrey. Nothing personal.)
Broadly speaking, I'm interested in lots of things, often things that don't bolt together into anything concrete enough to deserve being called a discipline or an acknowledged expertise. What I am is enthusiastic. I wouldn't say, for example, that I'm a music anorak, but I'm a music enthusiast: very catholic in my tastes, too, anything from Orlando Gibbons to Ozzie Osbourne. Particularly fond of Reggae. Literature, now, I admit to being a bit of a barbarian there. Let's just say you could tip all extant copies of Chaucer's poetical works into the Thames and it might be a bit of a service. Some things I don't know anything about at all. I'm pig-ignorant about science, for example, and don't even think about asking me anything on maths. I can barely add up. Chess is a closed book, or rather, a long, boring film in a foreign language; although, ironically, that's one of the things I *do* know about. Modern languages are my thang. In fact, words in general. When I die, I'd like to go to work for the Oxford Word and Language Service as the token deceased etymologist. Knowing me I'll end up working for the gas board.
